Major SummerSlam Results Leaked
WWE’s Hell in a Cell PPV takes place just two weeks after September 1st’s All In, so the venue has wisely started ramping up its promotion for the event. But the matches it’s now advertising could spoil several major outcomes for next weekend’s SummerSlam.
Hell in a Cell is taking place on Sunday 16th September, and San Antonio’s AT&T Center is promoting:
Roman Reigns Vs Kevin Owens, WWE Champion AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe for the WWE Championship.
And the just added Jeff Hardy vs Randy Orton,
Of course, this all comes with the standard disclaimer: “card subject to change”, but venue listings and advertisements have given away future booking directions in the past.
While the AJ vs Joe rematch just suggests their WWE Championship feud w ill continue, the addition of Hardy vs Orton without mentioning the United States title implies Nakamura will retain through some kind of RKO interference at SummerSlam.
The most interesting, however, is the Reigns vs Owens feud. Roman is facing Brock Lesnar for the Universal title at SummerSlam, where it’s widely expected Brock will lose to return to the UFC (although with Lesnar, nothing like that is ever certain.
KO’s SummerSlam match, meanwhile, is against Braun Strowman with the Money in the Bank briefcase on the line – which can change hands on a DQ or countout. AT&T listing Reigns vs Owens as a featured Hell in a Cell match supports fan theories that KO will win the briefcase, side with Paul Heyman and cash in after Roman beats Lesnar for the title.
