WWE Tease Roman Reigns & Paul Heyman Heel Turn

Heyman cut one of the best WWE promos of the year on Monday night in the wake of Lesnar turning on him the previous week. He had red eyes, an unshaven face and kept acting scared that Brock wouldn’t like him doing the interview. He spoke about how his and Lesnar’s children used to be friends, but Brock has since changed his number and isn’t returning Paul’s calls. Heyman gave a masterfully heartbroken performance. But was it really just a cover for the master manipulator?

The original version broadcast on Raw ended with Paul’s line:

“I’ve never seen [Brock] more violent. Against this Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns doesn’t stand a chance.”

But WWE have now posted what happened next in that interview on their YouTube channel, as the ‘Unaired final moment of Paul Heyman’s Raw interview: Raw Exclusive’.

After saying ‘Roman Reigns doesn’t stand a chance’, Paul leans back in his seat, lets out a big exhale, then deviously glances up as if he’s thinking, before looking back at Renee and simply trailing off with “unless…”.

Paul then stops himself, suddenly much happier, and then removes his microphone and leaves the interview, while Renee Young is asking “unless Roman Reigns does what?”

There are multiple theories for what Paul’s sudden idea could entail, chief amongst them being:

CM PUNK RETURN CONFIRMED!

And also that this could be planting the seeds for Heyman to turn on Lesnar and side with Reigns in the SummerSlam main event, effectively turning Roman heel as the new Universal Champion – which would make sense as most of Raw’s next potential titles challengers are babyfaces. It wouldn’t be the first time Paul has aligned himself with Brock’s opponent, either. In that same interview, Heyman dodged Young’s question about whether he’d become an advocate for someone new on the WWE roster.

The other possibility is Heyman sending down Braun Strowman or Kevin Owens to cash-in their Money in the Bank briefcase after the SummerSlam main event is over.
