A top star hopes WWE is interested in having him face Brock Lesnar in the UK.
At Royal Rumble 2023, GUNTHER made history by lasting 71 minutes in the Men’s Royal Rumble. Starting at #1 spot, the Intercontinental Champion confronted many of the top WWE stars during the course of the bout.
“The Ring General” shared a moment with Brock Lesnar during the contest when the two men squared off in the middle of the Rumble.
Fans came to their feet anticipating a showdown between the two intimidating and dominant figures.
In a new interview with My Love Letter to Wrestling with Mark Andrews, GUNTHER discussed this moment with Lesnar. He said:
“That moment with Brock was all I needed. I don’t think we needed to have lots of action going on with him, get into a little scuffle and stuff, just the moment and the crowd reaction for that, it was all I needed.”
“Just see how people…on the internet, you read stuff and people get easily excited, but often, the hype from online doesn’t translate to the venue.”
“When that happened, I was like, compared to the US, especially in England, people understand competition. They tend to look at the match and take it as a competition and then emotionally react to it, rather than expecting the fireworks right away.”
When asked if Triple H might have interest in booking a match for him against Brock in the UK, the Intercontinental Champion replied:
“I hope. The thing is, who knows. We had great success as Clash at the Castle, and now coming back with Money in the Bank, I’m hoping this is something that becomes a tradition where they venture out to Europe for the big events. The response is great and we get the chance more often.”
WWE will return to the UK when they host Money In The Bank in London on July 1.
GUNTHER is the current Intercontinental Champion and recently defeated Mustafa Ali to retain the gold at Night of Champions.
Meanwhile, Brock Lesnar defeated Cody Rhodes on the same show to even their series at one win a piece.
