Some AEW stars have spoke anonymously about the ongoing backstage issues and controversies surrounding CM Punk.
The situation that seems to have led to much of the discontent is in regards to recent reports of Punk potentially making the decision to send certain individuals home from AEW Collision, or at least if he’s not the one making the decision, the decision is being made by others for the purpose of keeping them away from him.
Among the names reportedly not allowed to attend AEW Collision tapings because of Punk are Hangman Page, AEW Head of Talent Relations Christopher Daniels, Matt Hardy and Ryan Nemeth, who Punk reportedly had a heated conversation with prior.
This has reportedly led to unhappiness from many backstage in AEW, something that Dave Meltzer has now elaborated on further in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Conveying the feeling of ‘tiredness’ at the situation and worry that things could worsen if not properly dealt with, Meltzer writes:
For the most part, the crew is harmonious, but there are those tired of it, different cliques and a couple of the backstage veterans who aren’t part of the actual conflict directly, expressed concern to us this week that unless things are handled now they are risking things getting far worse.
The entire situation seemed to come to light following comments Punk made regarding Hangman Page following the August 12 edition of AEW Collision, where he took shots at his known rival.
Punk reportedly felt bad about his actions and even reached out to Page via text message to apologise.
