Top NJPW star and former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Shingo Takagi has suggested a showdown with Bryan Danielson in Japan.
At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18, Kazuchika Okada defeated Bryan Danielson in a highly praised rematch between the two all-time greats.
This marked Danielson’s first match back in New Japan Pro Wrestling since 2004.
“The American Dragon” has stated a few times that he would love to have more matches in Japan against some of the top NJPW stars.
Speaking with Tokyo Sports (translation via DeepL), Shingo Takagi teased his interest in facing Kenny Omega before moving on to suggest a potential “Dragon Showdown” with Bryan Danielson. He said:
“If you want, why don’t we fight in Japan this year, the year of the dragon?”
Shingo Takagi is set to face Jon Moxley in a No DQ Match this Saturday, January 13 at NJPW Battle In The Valley.
Meanwhile, Bryan Danielson’s Japan return has been announced for NJPW New Beginning in Osaka when he faces Zack Sabre Jr. in an AEW WrestleDream rematch.
