WrestleTalk Roundtable – WWE SmackDown Live – January 15, 2019

What was the worst part of last night’s episode?

Steven Lugo

The Mandy Rose home-wrecker storyline. I seem to remember Enzo and Lana having this exact same hotel room angle a while back (although Enzo didn’t have a home to wreck).

I’m not sure if it’s an attempt to bring back part of the Attitude Era, or if they really can’t think of anything else for Mandy to do. At any rate, I thought she was robotic and unexciting in her segments. Would love for this to end, and put the focus on the tag team title chase with Sonya Deville.

Kyle Payne

The only real negative I found with the show was the whole infidelity storyline involving Mandy Rose, Naomi, and Jimmy Uso. I don’t like these types of storylines; I don’t think it’s a subject anyone should be playing around with.

Brian Farrell

Shane McMahon’s birthday. If this was in the middle, or even the beginning, it would be passable. But after a solid show, the ending fell kind of flat for me.

The match and post-match was fine, but the promo before I found to be a waste of time. It did more to advertise Jordan 33s than to advertise the actual Royal Rumble match. The birthday song was rather cringe and the video package felt kind of pointless. Not terrible, but not a good main event by any stretch.

Nate Craver

The Bar and Co-Besties confrontation was the worst for me. The Bar are your tag team champions. While they are okay at comedy, I just feel your champions should be treated more seriously, especially if those champions are Sheamus and Cesaro.

It seems anytime there’s food around the ring, Cesaro and Sheamus are going to land in it. They are supposed to be heels. You want to see heels get theirs, but they constantly look like idiots. I don’t take them seriously. It’s just not working for me.

Of course, at least they are going to lose their titles to two guys who could use the rub. I mean Shane and Miz are guys who need these kinds of things to get over. Also, the payoff is going to be huge. When I heard “fresh matchups” as part of the new era of WWE, I immediately thought Miz and Shane would be perfect champions. It’s not like SmackDown has any other tag teams that could use a bit of the spotlight.
