One of the main criticisms that fans often have with WWE programming is the camera work. While the shots that are captured are sometimes brilliant, the over-the-top camera cuts mean sometimes big moments are missed.
For example, after returning at the 2020 Royal Rumble match, camera cuts meant that fans missed seeing Edge’s first Spear after returning to active competition, something that Dolph Ziggler took to Twitter to share his unhappiness with.
people make mistakes, we all do & I have made tons. That being said; a very special moment was inexplicably missed. anyone got cell phone footage?
The man responsible for how we see episodes of Raw, SmackDown and PPVs is Executive Producer & Chief Global Television Distributor Kevin Dunn, and he always gets slated on Twitter for the camera cuts.
Despite this, former WWE Senior Editor, Director of Editing, Technical Director, Director, and Vice President of TV Technology Kevin Quinn took part in a Reddit AMA, where he said Kevin Dunn “knows what fans want”:
“I’ve known him longer than I’ve known my own wife. If you can figure him out you can work well with him and he appreciates you. He knows what the fans want and if a crew member screws up what he’s trying to get across … God bless them.”
