It has now been just under two weeks since WWE said goodbye to Renee Young, who decided it was time to leave the company after a number of years of wonderful service.
She has since spoken to Sports Illustrated, to whom she explained that the cancellation of WWE Backstage and an increasing lack of opportunities led to her wanting to leave.
She also admitted that she didn’t feel as people in WWE were all that bothered when she was diagnosed with COVD-19.
In another interview, this time with Richard Deitsch of Sports Media, Renee revealed that she did in fact ask to be released several years ago.
“When I had actually thought about leaving WWE several years ago and I was not granted my release at the time because I was under a talent contract but they wouldn’t let me out of that contract, and it turned out to be a good thing. I got to do a ton of stuff beyond that-that I wouldn’t have the career that I have today had I not been there for the past three years.”
It appears that Renee wasn’t too upset with not being released, as she says herself that she got to do a lot of things she would never have been able to do elsewhere by staying.
It isn’t clear what she’s going to be doing next, and while she didn’t rule out a move to AEW alongside husband Jon Moxley, she did tell Sports Illustrated that no contact had been made. She is currently working on her first cook book.
