Samoa Joe Reaction To 2021 WWE Release & Return Situation

Not once, but twice have wrestling fans been shocked in the last twelve months at the release of Samoa Joe.

First released in April 2021 from the main roster where he was on commentary, Joe returned to the company after being contacted by Triple H.

He returned to WWE television on NXT as an on-screen authority figure then in-ring performer where he became the brand’s only three-time NXT Champion before relinquishing the title in September due to injury and subsequent medical clearance issues.

According to Fightful Select, Samoa Joe displayed professionalism despite the frustrating circumstances noting:

“One WWE higher up said that Joe handled the situation ‘as professionally as possible, and considering the last few years he’s had here that’s easier said than done.'”

While not medically cleared of late to compete in WWE, all of the sources Fightful spoke to reportedly shared that they would expect to see Joe return to in-ring competition, with four long-standing indie promoters also contacting them to gauge the non-compete process as there is interest in booking Samoa Joe whenever he is available.
