Sting Wants To Come Out Of Retirement To Face The Undertaker

When Sting finally joined WWE in 2014 many fans were ecstatic that we not only got to see the WCW icon wrestle for Vince McMahon, but also at the increased possiblity of that Undertaker vs. Sting match we always wanted.

However, when Sting retired after a WWE Championship match with Seth Rollins in 2016 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame the following year, many fans thought we’d never get to witness that dream match.

However, when speaking to Wrestling Travel, the six-time WCW World Champion said that he would not come out of retirement for a match with anyone… except The Undertaker. Sting said:

”I mean, everyone knows who it would be. Taker, he’s the only guy I’d come out of retirement for now. No one else. We could just never get it together to make it happen. When I started talking to WWE he was booked with Brock and then I did the deal with Triple H and he had another feud going on at the time, so it was just one of those things we couldn’t make happen”.

When asked how he felt about his short time with the company, Sting said:

“I don’t regret it not happening either, I mean I got to face Triple H at my first WrestleMania and then wrestle Seth for the world title, so I didn’t do too badly out of that deal. But yeah, now, the only person I’m getting back in the ring for is Taker.”

The prospect of a match between the two would have been mouth-watering even ten years ago, but with Sting retired and The Undertaker approaching the end of his career, the encounter wouldn’t be the prettiest inside the ring.
