Tony Khan Doubles Down On WrestleDream 2023 Marking A ‘New Era In AEW’ AEW

After having been questioned by media regarding the comment of ‘a new era’ beginning for AEW, CEO Tony Khan has doubled down on the idea.

Taking to Twitter to share the message from a year ago that Khan shared inspired the upcoming pay-per-view event, Tony Khan wrote:

“This is the moment that WrestleDream was born: when Antonio Inoki passed away exactly 1 year ago this weekend

“Inspired by a man who was an inspiration to all of the dreamers in wrestling, a new era in AEW begins Sunday at #AEWWrestleDream

“You won’t want to miss this ppv Sunday”

AEW WrestleDream is set for Sunday, October 1 2023 from Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena.

Already announced, a series of big matchups including appearances from some of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s biggest stars.

Zack Sabre Jr. will take on Bryan Danielson, FTR defends their AEW Tag Team Championship against Aussie Open, and Eddie Kingston will defend both the ROH World Championship and the NJPW Openweight Championship against Katsuyori Shibata.

Of course, there have rumors abound about a potential meaning of the ‘new era’ comments, including wondering if a sunrise debut in Seattle may be in store.

One name fan are most excited about is the prospect of Adam Copeland (formerly known as Edge in WWE) making a surprise appearance as his contract is reportedly set to expire with WWE prior to the event, although there’s no word yet on whether he’s decided to go to AEW, stay with WWE, or something else entirely.
