Tony Khan confirmed on the ROH Final Battle media call that William Regal is set to depart All Elite Wrestling.
Khan revealed that Regal had requested to not have his contract renewed in the company so he could return to WWE and work with his son.
Regal’s WWE return had been teased for several weeks since he betrayed Jon Moxley at AEW Full Gear, helping MJF win the AEW World Championship.
A lot of fans were speculating even further when Triple H uploaded a video of William Regal prior to Survivor Series WarGames.
The video was a montage of the different times William Regal had shouted ‘WarGames!’ ahead of the titular match at the Survivor Series show.
The video was a surprise to a lot of people, including Tony Khan.
Tony spoke about the video on the media call today, claiming that he was ‘surprised’ to see Triple H upload the video, and that he didn’t think it was ‘in the spirit’ of how accommodating they were during the situation.
Khan believes terms of Regal's release will be him being able to go back to WWE and coach but not be on screen next year.
He said he was surprised to see the supercut of Regal on HHH's Twitter and didn't think it was in the spirit of how accommodating they were.
