On last Friday’s (October 29) episode of SmackDown, Drew McIntyre issued an open challenge, which was answered by Mustafa Ali. McIntyre went on to defeat Ali, not with the Claymore, but with a Kimura Lock submission hold.

Fans were confused by the sudden switch of McIntyre’s presentation, and why he was suddenly using the Kimura Lock, which is the submission finisher of Brock Lesnar.

Dave Meltzer notes in today’s Wrestling Observer Daily update, that there was ‘significance’ in McIntyre submitting Ali to Brock Lesnar’s finisher.

While not explicitly stated, it sounds as though WWE is planning on matching the Scottish Warrior and the Beast back up in the future, with the Kimura being the link between the two.
