It is being reported by the Wrestling Observer that WWE Hall of Famer Bob Armstrong wrestled his last ever match last night at the age of 79, bringing to an end a 59-year wrestling career.
Armstrong, who is the father of soon-to-be Hall of Famer Brian “Road Dogg” B.G. James, was watched by several family members, including one of his great granddaughters.
During his nearly six decade long career, Armstrong held NWA gold a staggering 55 times, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011 for his contributions to the sport and WWE.
Despite his age, Armstrong has wrestled occasional matches since 2010, mainly for All Pro Wrestling, Superstars Of Wrestling and Combat Sport Pro. This isn’t the first time he’s wrestled an advertised “last match” as on October 13, he also wrestled what was supposed to be his last match, teaming with Georgia Premier Wrestling’s Ernest Miller and Glacier to win a six-man tag team match.
Whether this is his last match or not, it’s safe to say that he’s done pretty much everything in the world of wrestling and will go down as one of the all time greats.
