On Friday night, WWE announced that they had released Zelina Vega. This announcement came just ten minutes after the SmackDown star tweeted her support of unionization.
It has since been reported that Vega was making more money off Twitch than WWE, and was fired because she didn’t take her third-party platform accounts down in the timeframe allocated by WWE.
Taking to his Twitch stream, former WWE star and current AEW wrestler Miro suggested that he would have done the same thing as Zelina Vega if he was told to quit Twitch while working for the company:
“She’ll be fine […] hey, it’s always somebody’s loss. I think that she wanted to do Twitch so that’s the best decision, the best move for her. If I were in her place I would have done the same. Well, yeah, she loves Twitch. She wanted to do more than just wrestle so she stuck to her guns. Now she’ll have the opportunity to do whatever she wants. I don’t know why everybody’s feelings bad about it. Don’t feel bad about it. She’ll be fine. She’ll be able to do anything now. There is nothing to stop her.”
Zelina Vega took to Twitch just a few hours removed from her release and said that she was “completely heartbroken” after being fired by the company. You can read exactly what she said by clicking here.
