A recent WWE signee was in talks with AEW prior to their return to the company.
WWE and AEW have been busy in regards to recent signings at every level of the two companies.
Aside from the in-ring performers, All Elite Wrestling recently signed Renee Paquette following passing on an offer from WWE, according to Louis Dangoor of Give Me Sports.
In WWE, the company has made commentary changes themselves and recently signed Cathy Kelley to head back as a backstage interviewer on Raw.
Fightful Select (subscription required) reports that their sources had indicated that Cathy Kelley had discussions with AEW earlier this year.
The talks included speaking with AEW President Tony Khan directly at some point about the possibility of working with the promotion. Things looked promising, but ultimately Kelley signing didn’t happen.
It hasn’t been confirmed why that was the case, how far talks went or what side ended up keeping it from going down.
The report also notes that Cathy Kelley and All Elite Wrestling remained on “solid terms” before she returned to WWE.
