An AEW star has revealed that they are still speechless over receiving an AEW contract in November 2022, thinking they’d been passed over.
After teaming with Top Flight (the team of Dante & Darius Martin) against Death Triangle (PAC, Penta El Zero Miedo & Ray Fenix) on the November 30 episode of AEW Dynamite, AR Fox received an AEW contract during a backstage segment with Lexi Nair.
Speaking about the moment on AEW Unrestricted, AR Fox recalled:
“It just took me off guard. I’m super humble, but in a way, I almost had that gut feeling, only because, right before we were about to do it, Sonjay (Dutt) called Lexy back over and whispered something in her ear.
“My gut sank. I’ve been doing it for so long that I thought, I don’t know, I thought it had passed, me really getting a shot.
“I was kinda happy to be there, but it was crazy.
“I’m still speechless about it. It took my off guard, was the first thing.
“All these thoughts were going through my head, I didn’t know how to feel or what to think. I’ll never forget it. I can’t really describe it.
“My reaction is still the same, pretty much speechless about it. I thought it would never happen.”
Although Fox became All Elite in November 2022, he had made appearances on AEW Dark and AEW Dark: Elevation from July 25 of that year.
Fox made his debut on the wrestling scene in 2007 and would go on to perform for CZW, Dragon Gate USA and Evolve among other promotions before joining Lucha Underground in 2016.
He has held multiple championships, including being the inaugural Evolve Champion in 2013.
He made his AEW Dynamite debut on November 16 2022, officially signing with the company on November 30.
