An AEW star has been sidelined with neck injury.
In May, it was announced that Yuka Sakazaki would be graduating from Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling at the end of 2023 in a press conference in Japan. Her final show in the promotion would be December 1, and then Sakazaki would be used in America in the new year.
This announcement led many fans and pundits to assume that Sakazaki was set to join All Elite Wrestling full-time after making various appearances for the company since debuting at the promotion’s first show, AEW Double Or Nothing 2019.
In a statement from TJPW, it was announced that Yuka Sakazaki had suffered a neck injury that was forcing her to be pulled from the company’s June 11 show.
After a medical check, doctors are not clearing the former Princess of Princess Champion to compete. As a result of her injury, The Magical Sugar Rabbits of Sakazaki and Mizuki were no longer the Princess Tag Team Champions with the titles now vacated.
Sakazaki was also scheduled to face AEW’s Nyla Rose on July 8 at Summer Sun Princess, but she has now been pulled from that show as well.
Nyla Rose will be in action on tonight’s June 9 episode of AEW Rampage when she faces Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D., Mercedes Martinez and Skye Blue in a four-way number one contenders match for the AEW Women’s World Championship.
