WWE Hall of Famer Edge faced off against Sheamus in a singles match on this week’s (August 18) episode of SmackDown.
The match took place in Toronto, Edge’s hometown, with the Rated R Superstar saying that the match was the last on his contract with the company.
To clarify, even though the match was the last on his contract, it doesn’t actually expire until the end of September according to Edge himself.
With speculation that the match could be Edge’s last in WWE, talk will of course pop up about whether we will see him become All Elite following the match.
While Edge has been rather outspoken about his age catching up to him, you can never say never in wrestling, so what if?
In fact, PWTorch has now reported that WWE expects Edge to go to AEW because Edge laid out what he wanted from WWE in order for him to stay, and they didn’t agree on those terms.
However, Edge responded by saying everything is fine between him and WWE, the company didn’t “deny” anything, and he has extension sat in his inbox.
Here are 9 potential AEW opponents for Edge.
9. Christian Cage
I have to get this one out of the way early.
If we are imaging a scenario where Edge has arrived in AEW, he will have to be a babyface, at least to start with.
With Christian currently a heel (and a top tier one at that), they’d probably have to face off at first before they ended up on the same page.
Christian would then be Edge’s partner in any following tag team matches.
