It was announced last month that AEW’s Executive Vice Presidents and top stars Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson of the Elite had re-signed multi-year contracts with the company.
The Elite have faced off against many of the top stars in the company, but there are still many opponents that they have not faced off with.
One of those names is current AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy, who has not had a major pay-per-view match with any members of the Elite.
Speaking to Barstool’s Rasslin’, Cassidy spoke about the Elite re-signing, noting that the company would not be what it is without them, and that he hopes to wrestle them at some point.
He said:
“This company would exist without them. It’s very clear. It’s very apparent. If you don’t think that, then you don’t know what AEW is and that’s fine but they are the heart, they are the soul, they are everything that AEW represents. Without those guys, I wouldn’t be sitting here with you. They allowed me to be me. I could be me and I could thrive in an environment where you could just be yourself. Them re-signing is a huge deal because I kind of want to wrestle them at some point.”
Cassidy is set to take on Jon Moxley for his AEW International Championship at this Sunday’s AEW All Out event in Chicago.
