Swerve Strickland has quickly become one of the most popular stars on the AEW roster in recent months.
Strickland scored a big victory over Adam Page back at AEW WrestleDream, with the two set for a rematch at Full Gear in two weeks time.
Speaking in an interview with Grapsody, Strickland discussed one of his mentors in his career, Sami Callihan, who became a free agent back on October 1.
Strickland said that he would want Callihan to join AEW, or just to get a chance to prosper in wrestling.
He said:
“Of course, I want to go after that guy. That’s my mentor, man. I faced a lot of my mentors in the past in my career. Rey Mysterio was a big mentor to me back in Lucha Underground. Sami Callihan, when I had a really hot run on the indies and stuff. Sami was a big part of that.
“He’s a free agent out there, I hope to see him in AEW or wherever you want to go. I just want him to prosper in this business for a long time. He deserves that, brilliant mind.”
Strickland isn’t the only top AEW star to pitch for Callihan to join the company, as his long time friend and former tag team partner Jon Moxley has also reportedly been pushing for Tony Khan to sign him.
Callihan’s IMPACT Wrestling contract expired back on October 1, with him since becoming a free agent.
Callihan recently went viral after a video of him and How I Met Your Mother actor Jason Segel at an independent event made the rounds on social media.
