Vince McMahon has been credited for arranging UFC deal with Saudi Arabia.
On March 2, 2024, UFC will hold its first live major event from Saudi Arabia. This is the start of UFC’s partnership with Saudi General Entertainment Authority for the show.
The General Entertainment Authority has a 10 year deal with WWE that sees the company hold two major shows from the country every year since 2018.
Speaking with the Sports Business Journal, UFC President Dana White revealed that it was WWE Executive Chairman Vince McMahon who arranged UFC’s deal with Saudi Arabia. Stating that Vince has gone from an “enemy” of UFC to an incredible and unbelievable partner, White said:
“It was Vince McMahon (who arranged UFC’s Saudi deal). It was 100 percent Vince McMahon.”
“He made every call, he didn’t make one move without picking up the phone and calling me and getting me in the loop and seeing if I was cool with this and that.”
“And he went from being, oddly enough, I don’t know why, an enemy (of UFC’s), to being an unbelievable, incredible partner.”
On September 12, Endeavor announced that WWE and UFC completed their merger into a new sports and entertainment company called “TKO Group Holdings.”
