UPDATE: MJF returned for the AEW Full Gear main event after all – click here for the latest.
A major announcement about the AEW Full Gear 2023 main event as AEW announced that MJF would be replaced in defending his title.
During the show, Tony Schiavone came out with referee Bryce Remsburg to make a big announcement about the AEW Full Gear 2023 card.
Schiavone announced that MJF was “injured” and would be unable to compete tonight and that he was out of the main event.
This came after the Gunns had attacked him during the pre-show and MJF was taken away in an ambulance.
However when the pair called out Jay White from Bullet Club Gold, seemingly to announce that he would by default obtain the AEW World Championship, they were interrupted.
Adam Cole said that if MJF couldn’t defend the World Championship tonight then he would defend it for him, “one leg or not”.
It’s unclear if the main event is actually going to be Jay White vs Adam Cole instead of MJF, but that’s what’s been announced and we’ll keep you posted.
