WWE SmackDown star Grayson Waller has sent a message to former NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes during a photoshoot.
As previously reported, Shawn Michaels announced that he had chosen former NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes to represent the brand in the United States Championship Tournament.
Hayes will face Grayson Waller in the first round on the December 15 episode of WWE SmackDown.
These two men have clashed several times before when they were both part of the NXT brand. They last competed against one another when Hayes beat Waller to retain the NXT Championship in April 2023 before Grayson was drafted to SmackDown.
On December 13, Grayson Waller took to social media to post a video where he interrupted a photoshoot involving Carmelo Hayes. The two men had an exchange where they said:
Grayson Waller: “I gotta say, I’m proud of you, man.”
Carmelo Hayes: “Big win on Saturday, that’s what’s up, man.”
Waller: “I’m not talking about Tiger King, lad. I’m talking about the fact that you attacked your best friend. That’s so…I don’t think even Grayson Waller would do that, and I’ve done some mean things.”
Hayes: “Doing it for the camera? Is that why you’re doing this?”
Waller: “Hey, hey, chill, man. We can do this Friday. I get paid big money to fight now. I’m not gonna do it here.”
“I just wanted to talk about some statistics. You love statistics, right? You always talk about all your main events, all your championships, all the bangers you’ve had.”
“But I thought I’d remind you about one statistic you haven’t thought about. With a broken leg, I still got drafted before you. Swish.”
