According to commentary on tonight’s WWE SmackDown, Charlotte Flair is expected to be out of action for months after suffering an injury.
On the December 8 edition of SmackDown, Asuka defeated Charlotte Flair with a distraction from Damage CTRL’s Bayley.
During the course of the bout, Flair got her leg caught up on the top rope and was seen limbing towards the closing stretch before being escorted backstage by officials and personnel.
As previously reported, WWE announced that Charlotte had been removed from the following weekend’s live events.
Now the announcement comes with confirmation that Charlotte Flair has suffered an injury to her knee and will be out of action for ‘nine months’.
Elsewhere on tonight’s SmackDown, Mia Yim and Asuka will face off against each other for the first time in over a decade in tag team action.
Michin Mia Yim and Zelina Vega took on Asuka and Kairi Sane, billed as the Kabuki Warriors, having resumed their former tag team name.
In a pre-taped video package from Damage CTRL, Bayley pledged that the faction was seeking gold for every member including her plan to target WWE Raw’s Rhea Ripley after winning the Royal Rumble.
