WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther has praised a recent opponent of his as an ‘absolute pro’ following their recent match.
Gunther has reigned as the Intercontinental Champion since June 2022, with him being the longest reigning champion in the title’s history.
As such, Gunther has defended the title against all comers, from men as big as Braun Strowman to underdogs like Rey Mysterio.
Gunther’s most recent defence came on this week’s Raw show, when he defeated The Miz in a rematch from Survivor Series.
Gunther and Miz have been going back and forth for many weeks, and Gunther has credited the feud for benefitting him the most during his legendary title run.
Speaking to Busted Open Radio, Gunther praised Miz as an ‘absolute pro’, and said that, aside from the matches against Sheamus, the feud between the two was what benefited him the most in his run.
He said:
“The promo I had with Miz was fantastic for myself. I enjoy being in the ring with guys that have a similar style of me, but I even more enjoy the challenge of being with somebody that is completely different, and Miz is a polar opposite to what I am. The guy has been in the company for 20 years, he’s an absolute pro.
“I feel like maybe aside from the thing I did at the beginning with Sheamus, the program I had with Miz is the thing that’s benefited me the most so far.”
Gunther also teased a potential major WrestleMania 40 match on the show, which you can see here.
