An update has emerged on the working partnership between WWE and All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) following their recent crossover.
NXT star Charlie Dempsey recently paid a visit to Japan, competing in a series of AJPW matches before unsuccessfully challenging for Katsuhiko Nakajima’s Triple Crown Championship.
A recent report indicated that this WWE-AJPW working relationship is ongoing, with Dempsey’s brief excursion reportedly not a one-time deal.
We now know one of the people who has been involved with the partnership behind-the-scenes.
Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Simon Inoki has been one of the key people involved in the dealings between WWE and AJPW.
Antonio Inoki’s son-in-law, Simon Inoki has done business with several top promotions in the past, including NJPW, where he served as the company’s president from 2005 to 2007.
Simon Inoki notably reshared a number of posts on Twitter about Charlie Dempsey in Japan, from both before and after his recent matches.
It was previously reported that there were ‘mixed feelings’ within AJPW about its partnership with WWE.
