An update has emerged on WWE’s relationship with All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) following their recent interpromotional match.
WWE NXT star Charlie Dempsey notably appeared for AJPW on January 3, unsuccessfully challenging for Katsuhiko Nakajima’s AJPW Triple Crown Championship.
With the original match announcement appearing to come out of the blue, there has been a lot of speculation about whether or not WWE and AJPW will continue their partnership.
Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE and AJPW have an ongoing deal with one another, even if some within AJPW have ‘mixed feelings on the partnership.
When asked if Charlie Dempsey’s appearance for AJPW was a one-off, or if WWE has an ongoing partnership with AJPW, Meltzer said:
“I was told it’s an ongoing thing. Although there’s certainly people in All Japan who have mixed feelings on it, but the president of All Japan and WWE (have) got a deal going on right now.”
