With WWE King and Queen of the Ring taking place in Saudi Arabia on May 25, a start date has been announced for the men’s tournament.
While details for the tournament are still not known, it’s been confirmed that the King of the Ring tournament will start after WWE Backlash.
WWE Backlash takes place on May 4, 2024, in France, with the King of the Ring tournament scheduled to start on the May 6 episode of Raw.
The announcement of the tournament start date was made during the April 29 episode of WWE Raw which also brought an end to the WWE draft picks, all of which can be seen here.
Currently, four WWE stars have declared themselves for the King of the Ring tournament – Gunther, Drew McIntyre, Sheamus and Xavier Woods.
Sheamus has taken a shot at his own appearance, reflecting on “burger after burger after burger” comments from Drew McIntyre and given himself a name should he win the tournament.
As for the Queen of the Ring tournament, Isla Dawn has her sights set on victory even though no women wrestlers have yet declared their intentions.
King and Queen of the Ring takes place at the Jeddah Super Dome in Saudi Arabia and marks the twelfth event to feature the name “King of the Ring.”
The last time King of the Ring ran as its own event was in 2015 when Bad News Barrett (Wade Barrett) was victorious over Neville (now AEW’s PAC) in the finals.
Prior to this, King of the Ring was a regular PPV event until 2002 and has been used as a tournament over the years to this day.
