After being confirmed earlier tonight, a WWE championship match ended up being stopped mid-match due to an apparent injury.
During the NXT Women’s Championship match occurring tonight (February 13) with WWE main roster star Shotzi taking on the champion Lyra Valkyria, it seems Shotzi suffered an injury.
The match was being taped after tonight’s episode of NXT to air on next week’s February 20 episode.
According to a report from Fightful, the title match was stopped due to a knee injury suffered by Shotzi. It was noted that she was helped to the back and undergoing evaluation.
This does seem to be a legitimate injury and not part of any plans or storyline – we will keep you posted with any updates.
Shotzi was set for an Elimination Chamber qualifying match against Tiffany Stratton on this week’s SmackDown, but an injury may rule that match out of happening.
We wish Shotzi all the best with her recovery.
Tonight’s NXT tapings featured two shows, one that aired tonight on a one-hour delay (February 13) whilst the other is set to air next Tuesday, February 20.
This is to allow for travel to WWE’s upcoming premium live event in Perth, Australia on February 24, which some people in NXT will be involved with.
Tonight’s NXT episode ended with a title change as Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin won the NXT Tag Team Championship from Tony D’Angelo and Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo.
