4. Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar in a Winner Takes All Title Unification Match for the WWE and Universal Championships – WWE WrestleMania 38 Night 2
In “The Biggest WrestleMania Match Of All-Time”, WWE was able to finally capture the elusive “big match feel” that they hadn’t in the first two meetings.
The Dallas crowd in AT&T Stadium was electric for both men and wanted to see them lock horns. It was the culmination of months of buildup as well as a seven year journey from their first Mania encounter.
This was every bit of a heavyweight slugfest that these two stars have become known for.
Each competitor brought their big guns with Brock suplexing Roman at will, while Reigns delivered multiple Superman Punches.
Lesnar let Paul Heyman distract him, leading to a massive Spear through the guardrail. They each hit their finishers for close nearfalls on both sides.
Brock reversed another Spear into a Kimura for a near-submission win, but Heyman pushed the ropes to his Tribal Chief to allow Reigns to break the hold.
After a rally cry by his “wise man”, Roman reversed another F-5 attempt and hit one more Spear to win. The finish felt rushed and lackluster after all the hype that Lesnar would lose so easily.
Finish withstanding, this was exactly what WWE always hoped for in this contest. Roman Reigns finally beat The Beast at WrestleMania and walked out the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
