The Revival Makes Main Roster Debut – April 3, 2017

One of the most highly anticipated main roster debuts of any NXT act was The Revival. The old-school team made their debut the night after WrestleMania 33, defeating the New Day. Unfortunately, their main roster run never got off the ground.

Injuries and a lack of direction have led to the duo clawing at the door waiting to escape WWE. The team seems destined to end up in AEW but only time will tell.

WrestleMania 32 – April 3, 2016

WrestleMania 32 was a despised show when it aired. The ridiculously long show seemed designed to irritate the hardcore WWE fan as a number of matches saw popular stars beaten soundly. AJ Styles lost what could have been a star-making match to Chris Jericho, The New Day was trounced, Dean Ambrose was made to look weak against Brock Lesnar, and Charlotte retained her Women’s Championship.

By the mid-point of the show, the crowd was disappointed with the majority of the results. What followed was a very long Hell in a Cell match, and the panned main event between Triple H and Roman Reigns. The only positive of the event was that the women were given a chance to steal the show in their first meaningful WrestleMania match in a decade.

WrestleMania XXVII – April 3, 2011

WrestleMania XXVII is regarded as one of the worst ‘Manias in recent memory. The show had some good moments, such as Edge’s final match before retiring for nine years, Cody Rhodes vs. Rey Mysterio, and Randy Orton vs. CM Punk, but the best thing on the show was Triple H vs. Undertaker. The two put on a brutal and violent match where people thought Triple H had broken the streak.

The downside was the rest of the show. Michael Cole was at his worst and the first half of the show is ruined by his commentary. This pales in comparison to the abomination that was Cole in the ring. He and Jerry Lawler had an awful match that went three times longer than it should have.

Oh yeah, The Rock was on this show. His involvement in WrestleMania XXVII was only to set up the following year’s event. He interfered in one of the worst WrestleMania main events in history between John Cena and The Miz, costing Cena the WWE Championship.

Supercard of Honor IV – April 3, 2009

Nigel McGuinness is regarded as one of the greatest ROH World Champions in history. That is why it was such a huge moment when journeyman Jerry Lynn defeated him to become the new champion at Supercard of Honor IV in 2009. It remains one of the top moments in Ring of Honor history.

WrestleMania 21 – April 3, 2005

WrestleMania 21 could have been the greatest ‘Mania in wrestling history. Instead, it was merely a good show. The event was plagued by problems, such as Rey Mysterio’s mask malfunctioning and obstructing his vision during his match with Eddie Guerrero, and Batista dealing with a leg injury during the main event.

Despite the hiccups, WrestleMania 21 featured the first Money in the Bank ladder match, the unbelievable Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle match, and the conclusion to one of WWE’s best ever storylines. Batista and Triple H may not have had a classic in the ring, but their storyline was amazing and this was the site of Batista’s coronation as World Heavyweight Champion.
