Hideo Itami vs. Akira Tozawa
This will either be the first chapter in a multi-match feud, or this was, in fact, the blowoff. There was an excellent strike exchange early on in which both men looked as though they were trying to tear each other apart. When they broke from that, though, Tozawa got the upper hand and tried to put away his opponent, before being cut off by Itami. There was an excellent spot late, where the two called back to the match where Itami turned. In that match, Tozawa was preparing for the Senton when Itami inadvertently knocked him off by hitting the ropes. This time was no mistake, however, as Itami knocked Tozawa off the top in similar fashion. Itami would use this advantage to hit an unnamed knee strike finisher (looks like a Cross-Rhodes into a Codebreaker) for the win.
Result: Hideo Itami def. Akira Tozawa
This wasn’t the type of match I expected, but it was very good. Itami was slow and methodical, but not in a boring, Randy Orton kind of way. He simply took his time to weaken his opponent before finally securing victory. Tozawa lost nothing from this match, as he got in solid offense and looked like a credible threat, who could have beaten Itami on any other day. Good match, good main event, decent show.
