After a mysterious piece of physical media made the rounds at AEW WrestleDream 2026, it seems that Timeless Toni Storm could be returning soon.

Soon being a relative term as everyone knows the best professional wrestling mysteries are worth the wait – the latest chapter of the Timeless Toni Storm saga may have only begun.

Mystery drop at AEW WrestleDream 2026

Professional wrestling content creator Astrid Pizarro took to Twitter to share a snap of a cassette tape and the accompanying “confidential” tag.

Astrid tells me exclusively that she was directly handed the package at AEW WrestleDream 2026 from what was an AEW staffer.

With the cassette tape being at least in part narrated by Renee Paquette, and marked “Toni Storm Tapes” but the remaining details are murky since Astrid notes she hasn’t truly sat down and documented the contents of the tape.

Perhaps most interestingly, the cassette given to Astrid is labelled “1/5” meaning that there are either more drops to come or perhaps, more creators who were given a clue at the event.

Adding to the mystery of the entire affair, very little is known about Toni Storm’s actual absence.

With details of her absence from AEW being sparse beyond some general projection that the star would be out of action throughout 2026 and perhaps into 2027 – there hasn’t been any leaks regarding any finite “reason” for the Timeless one being off-screen.

Since Storm was set to perform on an episode of AEW Dynamite back in March before reportedly being pulled from action with the ‘murder scene’ set up with very little notice – there is undoubtedly an amazing trickle of evidence coming soon.

With a number of suspects still at play, it remains to be seen what will be revealed about the mystery but what is obvious – Timeless Toni Storm will be returning to AEW.

In an art print poster released shortly after Storm’s absence, a magnifying glass holds a vast number of AEW suspects.

Featured in the art print are: Marina Shafir, Mina Shirakawa, Thekla, Orange Cassidy, Kris Statlander, Mercedes Mone, Penelope Ford, Willow Nightingale, Megan Bayne, Harley Cameron, Athena, Julia Hart, Thunder Rosa, Hikaru Shida, Deonna Purazzo, Private Party, Jon Moxley, Renee Paquette, Wheeler Yuta, Tony Schiavone, Luther, Prince Nana and referee Rick Knox.

Clearly, Tony Schiavone is behind this madness.

Worth the wait

Jokes aside, the return of Timeless Toni Storm will certainly be worth the wait as it seems as though the former AEW Women’s World Champion might be the only one able to take down current champ, Mercedes Mone.

After a pair of successful title defenses against both Queen Aminata and a hard fought battle against Thekla at AEW WrestleDream, it may be that Mercedes Mone’s greatest foe will end up being a familiar face.

Particuaarly interesting if it ends up being not Mercedes Mone that attacked Toni Storm in storyline but rather someone else entirely on behalf of Mone – there could be even more unseen suspects as yet to be revealed.

And if AEW is looking for somewhere to drop another clue in the future, please let a gal know.
