WWE Backstage Reaction To Comments About Alleged CM Punk Incident Revealed AEW

Backstage reactions to WWE Hall of Famer Booker T’s comments about an alleged incident involving CM Punk have been revealed.

The NXT commentator recently stated on his Hall of Fame podcast that he had “a little run-in” with CM Punk backstage at the March 12 NXT taping.

Booker T noted:

“I saw Punk. (Laughs). We’ll talk about that off the air. I almost had like a little run-in with CM Punk.

“The internet might wanna pick that up – me and CM Punk almost got into it at NXT this week.

“We’ll talk about it later. I don’t wanna put it out there because they’re gonna pick it up and run with it. But yeah, I’ll talk to you about that off the air.”

While on the surface, a lot of people did believe Booker was recalling a legitimate situation, responses from Booker T’s podcast to comments left on the video where he made the comment about CM Punk have led some to speculate that may have been a “work”, basically meaning Booker was just making it up.

Per Fightful Select, there was a “feeling of skepticism” when speaking with NXT sources about Booker T’s comments, with none of the sources who Fightful spoke to aware of the confrontation prior to his podcast.

Fightful noted that one source expressed surprise at Booker T making this claim without offering more context, with this same source also reportedly stating that Punk has not had any issues backstage since returning to WWE.

According to Fightful, security were not made aware of any incidents involving Punk at this taping.

NXT sources who specifically spoke with Sean Ross Sapp stated that Punk has been very helpful anytime he’s visited NXT, with it noted that Punk only really spoke with Shawn Michaels, Matt Bloom and a few NXT roster members at this week’s taping.

One NXT source reportedly flat out denied the incident taking place and recalled Booker T’s previous claim that he had heat with Corey Graves back in 2018, which turned out to be a work.

Fightful’s report ended by noting that there was a “sense of frustration” from the sources they spoke with about Booker T making a claim of this nature, given CM Punk’s history with backstage altercations.

Before Booker’s comments even surfaced yesterday, Fightful had simply reported that Punk had kept a low profile at the taping.

We’ll keep you posted with any further updates.
