Details On WWE Trying To Prevent Late Show Changes By Vince McMahon WWE

It was reported ahead of last night’s WWE Raw show that Vince McMahon’s influence over WWE creative is likely to grow as the WWE sale to Endeavor becomes a reality.

Last week’s episode of SmackDown saw Vince McMahon make several late changes, which led to announced matches being scrapped from the show.

After the show, it was reported that WWE was looking for ways to prevent Vince from making late changes to the shows, and we now know more about some of the actions taken.

Per Fightful Select (subscription required), those in the company have said that Vince likes to make good on matches advertised for the show when possible, even if the matches were not his idea.

There are some exceptions, such as this past week’s SmackDown, but typically if it is advertised, they try to see it through.

One of the sources told Fightful that advertising matches on SmackDown one, two and sometimes even three weeks ahead of time could have been an effort to ‘Vince proof’ the plans for the show.

The main thing that Vince had made changes to on the June 5 episode of Raw were match orders, match times, and adding some quick additional segments.

On the June 19 episode of Raw, a World Championship match as well as a ‘pivotal storyline moment’ were changed for the first 30 minutes of the show we got, as well as the addition of the match between Tommaso Ciampa and The Miz.

Vince then changed several of the matches for that week’s SmackDown show, even though the show had not previously experienced the same level of heavy changes as Raw had.

Many of the matches that had been promoted weeks ahead of time ended up happening, though Fightful was not told if there was any reason for that.

There was a ton of frustration around several changes to last week’s Raw and Smackdown episodes at almost every level of WWE.
