WWE star Drew McIntyre has commented on the possibility of CM Punk returning to the company following his AEW departure.
On September 2, AEW and Tony Khan announced that they had terminated the contracts of CM Punk with cause.
Punk’s termination came following the investigation into the backstage incident at AEW All In at Wembley Stadium.
Following Punk’s termination, fans have speculated about whether or not Punk would return to WWE.
Speaking with Sportskeeda, Drew McIntyre called CM Punk ‘controversial’, noting that he gets fans talking.
Making it clear that he has no say in the matter, McIntyre said:
“I don’t make those decisions. I watch what I say in interviews.
“He’s certainly controversial and he gets people talking. I’ll leave it at that.”
It wasn’t too long ago that the vice versa was being talked about as a possibility, with many fans speculating that McIntyre could make the jump to AEW during the former WWE Champion’s hiatus earlier this year.
McIntyre has now addressed rumors about his WWE status and contract, which you can read more about right here.
