After Nikkita Lyons’ recent Evolve Title win against Wendy Choo, there has now been a change on the men’s side as well.

On tonight’s show, Harlem Lewis defeated Aaron Rourke to become the new WWE Evolve Champion.

The win makes Lewis the third Evolve Champion after Rourke and the man Rourke beat to win the title, Jackson Drake of Vanity Project.

Harlem Lewis debuted for WWE in 2024, but hasn’t established himself on NXT TV as of yet, instead featuring on LFG and now Evolve.

He also went on an excursion to Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan alongside Charlie Dempsey for a few matches last year.

He has been on WWE Main Event a couple of times in recent months, with losses against Je’Von Evans and Otis, and also has a Raw match to his name from 2024 when he was defeated by Odyssey Jones under his real name, Vincent Winey.

Aaron Rourke has made a handful of NXT appearances as of late, including as a judge for the Mr NXT Pageant between Shiloh Hill and Tristan Angels.

The following week, Rourke defended and retained the Evolve Title against Angels on NXT as well.

The title loss for Rourke tonight could signify a full-time move to the NXT roster off the back of those appearances, as has been the case for the likes of Jackson Drake, Kali Armstrong and Kendal Grey in the past.

International Flair Is NXT’s Future?

Earlier this year, the NXT roster took a major hit when many top stars from the brand were called up to the main roster, including names such as Oba Femi, Trick Williams, Blake Monroe, Ricky Saints and all of Fatal Influence.

As WWE has looked to rebuild the roster, some faces have made the move up from Evolve, but most of the new faces have come from recent international signings.

British standouts such as Lizzy Rain, Mason Rook and Tristan Angels have already taken to the NXT roster like a duck to water, with other European stars such as the Belgian Dorian Van Dux, the Spanish Romeo Moreno and the French Elio Lefleur also showing a lot of promise for the future.

Throw in potential appearances from AAA stars, and the signing of Naraku and the reported signing of Hiromu Takahashi, and it seems as though the future of the NXT brand right now lies within it’s international talent.

Kaiser, real name Marcel Barthel, was arrested in May for an incident in April where the accuser claimed Barthel had punched him during an incident in and after an elevator ride.

The accuser claimed that Barthel and a woman – his girlfriend WWE AAA interviewer Andrea Bazarte, who wasn’t named – were being “uncontrollably intimate” and “aggressively kissing” while they were all in the elevator, and he had asked them to “please have some manners.”

He claimed that Barthel punched him after that comment.

Now, there has been a new filing from Barthel’s side, which describes his side of the incident.

Barthel’s claim is that he and Bazarte were hugging in the elevator, and the accuser had made “loud comments” to the effect of, “Have some f**king respect.”

Barthel also claims the accuser made a statement to the effect of, “Have some respect before I call ICE on that bitch.”

Barthel’s side goes on to describe that Barthel acted in self defense – noting Florida’s ‘Stand Your Ground’ law – when the accuser approached them in a threatening manner, and that Barthel didn’t retaliate when the accuser threw a soft drink bottle at them.

The filing seeks to have the battery charges against Barthel dismissed. Previously, Barthel’s side filed to be granted access to surveillance footage of the incident.

“The elevator stopped at the 12th floor where Mr. Reap exited, and as he exited Mr. Reap made loud comments to Mr. Barthel and his girlfriend to the effect of, ‘Have some f***ing respect.’ Apparently, Mr. Reap was offended by Mr. Barthel and his girlfriend hugging while in the elevator. Mr. Barthel leaned out of the elevator to ask Mr. Reap what he said as he was confused by the statement. Mr. Reap then made a statement to the effect of, ‘Have some respect before I call ICE on that bitch’ Mr. Barthel’s girlfriend is of Mexican descent.

“Mr. Barthel exited the elevator and confronted Mr. Reap verbally telling him his statements were offensive and inappropriate. Mr. Barthel did not threaten or touch Mr. Reap at that point. Mr. Reap then came toward Mr. Barthel aggressively raising his hands and getting very close to him. Mr. Barthel, in fear that Mr. Reap was going to batter him, pushed Mr. Reap away.

“Mr. Barthel walked back into the elevator, where his girlfriend was standing. Mr. Reap then approached the elevator in a threatening manner. Mr. Barthel stepped out of the elevator and told Mr. Reap to leave them alone. Mr. Reap walked away briefly and came back toward the elevator again in a threatening manner. Mr. Barthel was concerned that Mr. Reap would physically attack him or his girlfriend, so he pushed him away, and returned to the elevator.

“Mr. Reap then threw a soft drink bottle at Mr. Barthel. Mr. Barthel did not retaliate. Rather, he remained in the elevator, pushed the button for his floor and left the area.

“In this altercation, Mr. Barthel pushed Mr. Reap only after Mr. Reap had approached Mr. Barthel aggressively and threatened him. Mr. Barthel pushed Mr. Reap to stop his continuing approach and attack. Mr. Barthel then entered the elevator where his girlfriend remained and left the area.”

While there was less than a year between her in-ring debut in October 2023 and her release from the company the following May, former WWE star Carolina Cruz (fka Emma Diaz) has taken what she learned in WWE’s developmental and continued on in her career on the independent scene, making appearances for AEW, MLW, Women Of Wrestling and Reality of Wrestling several other promotions across the United States.

Discussing her time in NXT and work since her departure with The Fan’s View, Cruz named was asked about her experience at the Performance Center and what coaches helped her the most in her development.

Heaping praise on the likes of Fit Finlay, Norman Smiley, Terry Taylor and Robbie Brookside, Cruz would also give a shoutout to current WWE NXT star Lola Vice, who she said “took her under her wing” during their time working together:

“I think all the coaches. Fit Finlay was a huge one that I really loved his aggressive style back in the day, so I (was) attracted to him a lot. Terry Taylor, Norman Smiley was my coach for a long time. Robbie Brookside taught me how to lock up. They all have a unique thing about themselves.

“I did look up to Lola Vice a lot during my early development because she was someone from Miami, someone with the same ethnicity as me that was moving at such a fast pace and she took me under her wing as well, so that was super cool to have as well.”

Further discussing her time in NXT, Cruz expressed gratitude for her time on the brand, even if she never gets the chance to return to WWE in the future:

“Just being there. I’m so thankful for that cause I don’t know, when I got out on the indies I didn’t realize how many people love this and would do anything to be there. So, my respect for everything and love for everything grew so much bigger.

“Also the realization of, wow, only one percent make it. If I never go back I’d be a happy woman because I’m just so grateful to have been there and I understand how hard it is to even go back or to even get in the door in the first place.”

On July 5, it was confirmed that four time WWE World Champion and former Royal Rumble winner Sheamus had departed the company following the expiration of his contract.

Much like Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston’s exit in May, it was reported that Sheamus turned down WWE’s offer of a new, restructured contract, and also like Woods and Kingston, there have been plenty of speculation regarding Sheamus potentially jumping to AEW in the near future.

One of the big draws to Sheamus heading to AEW from a fan perspective is a potential reunion of The Bar with Claudio Castagnoli.

The pair won five WWE Tag Team Championships together between 2016 and 2019, and are fondly remembered as one of the company’s best teams of the past decade, with even AEW’s Jim Ross recently expressing his desire to see a reunion in All Elite Wrestling.

But what does Claudio Castagnoli himself have to say on the matter of Sheamus joining AEW? The Swiss star was asked about the possibility during an interview with Daily Star, but didn’t give much away in regards to his friend’s future.

Castagnoli said:

“I feel that’s not for me to talk about. I feel that’s for him to talk about when he’s ready for it. I’ve stayed friends with him throughout, of course. I would like to see my friends on a more regular basis of course. I’m going to get that question a lot but I do feel that is his to answer when he’s ready for it. 

While he feels it should be Sheamus who comments on his future himself, Castagnoli did offer a timely World Cup related joke, regarding a potential name change for he and and the Irish star’s’ tag team:

“What I can say is me and him have been doing a lot of training together, a lot of further education if you will. Kind of thinking about the future and whatever, and what we would really like to do is get our refereeing degree and become The VAR.”

Sheamus Shares Another Social Media Message Amid Free Agency

Following his WWE exit, Sheamus scrubbed his WWE name from his social media accounts and has begun his next chapter as S. Farrelly – a reflection of his real name being Stephen Farrelly.

It’s unclear whether Sheamus will be using the S. Farrelly name in his post-WWE career, but in his latest post on Twitter, there is perhaps a suggestion that that could be the case.

Sharing three images of himself at the gym looking in incredible shape, Sheamus wrote:

it’s just S. Farrelly.. nothing more, nothing less.

Unlike the aforementioned New Day, Sheamus is free to move to any promotion in the wrestling world immediately, as his contract expired, rather than being released.

In May 2024, Emma Diaz was confirmed to have been released by WWE, less than one year after she made her in-ring debut in October of the preceding year and a month after she featured as a cast member in ‘WWE Next Gen’ – a Roku reality series that aired for a single season that April.

In the years since her release, Diaz has rebranded herself as Carolina Cruz and continued wrestling on the independent scene, as well as making appearances for notable promotions AEW, MLW and, most predominantly this year, WOW (Women Of Wrestling).

In a new interview with The Fan’s View, Cruz discussed her move to WWE, recalling how she learned as much as she could about this history of the business immediately after she signed her deal, naming the effort she put in to engross herself in wrestling and her character as something she has no regrets over:

“I definitely always respected everything from day one. As soon as I got that contract essentially, not the tryout, but as soon as I got the contract, I quickly learned all the history, about all the amazing legends that there is and still are. I pretty much learned all the ins and outs of the respect in the business because there’s a lot that goes into it.

“I gave myself 110% while I was there, so that’s the one regret I don’t have is when I got released, I knew that I did everything that I possibly could.

“I came up with who is Emma Diaz? You know what I mean? What does she do? What does she stand for? Who is going to be Emma Diaz when she goes out in the crowd? Does she look performance ready? All those things, I worked on everything.

“So I had no regrets when I got released. It was super hurtful, but it was good to know that I had no regrets. Everything I didn’t think I was ready for, I fixed.”

Further addressing her departure from the company, Cruz said it was “devastating” to receive the call abut her release, but she also did have a sense that it was coming.

“I kind of expected it. Not expected it, but I did have an intuition. I’m also the type of person that prepares for the worst, so I don’t know if I was always preparing for the worst and then it finally happened. Or, if I just felt that it was gonna happen, I don’t know.

“But it was devastating, I was so upset. But I was super hungry to go back out there and earn my spot and earn my stripes. I was like well, I haven’t earned my place anywhere actually so why don’t we start by doing that?”

Despite being 62 years of age, Billy Gunn still stands out as one of the most physically impressive stars on the AEW roster, and while he’s not as visible on television anymore, he’s still actively competing between the ropes to this day in Ring of Honor, Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling and various promotions on the independent scene.

With a career that stretches back over three decades, Gunn has shared a locker room with many top stars, giants and wrestlers with legitimate fighting backgrounds, but nobody has made him feel as intimidated as current WWE star Brock Lesnar.

Speaking with Denise Salcedo, Gunn said:

“Probably Brock. He’s always been nothing but nice to me and we’ve always had a great relationship, but I think it’s a mental thing he has, he doesn’t really have to do anything. It’s just you look at him and you go, ‘He could actually eat me if he wanted to.’ And I’m like 6’5 270 (pounds)…

“You got to think twice, more than twice about that. He has that aura, but he’s such a nice guy. It’s kinda of like me, I have a real bad aura, but I’m really nice (laughs).”

Salcedo then mentioned another former UFC fighter who Gunn came up against: Ken Shamrock, but Gunn still gave the nod to Lesnar:

“Well, Shamrock’s just a crazy person. You know what he is, the look and the presence and everything.

“Brock not only has the size but he has the background to kind of back it up. Kenny’s just crazy.”

Billy Gunn shared a ring with Brock Lesnar several times before his debut on WWE TV in March 2002, they also faced off in a one-on-one match on the February 26, 2004 episode of SmackDown (see below), which Lesnar won.

Brock Lesnar Turns 49, But Teased With WWE Retirement Is Up In The Air

Brock Lesnar turned 49 this past Sunday (July 12), which happens to be the exact same date in which his old WWE rival Bill Goldberg hung up his boots last year following a loss to GUNTHER at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Five months later, another one of Lesnar’s storied rivals John Cena also retired from the ring at the hands of GUNTHER, with AJ Styles then suffering the same fate one moth after that at the 2026 Royal Rumble.

At WrestleMania 42, it seemed as if Lesnar was joining that same list when he left his boots and gloves in the ring following his loss to Oba Femi. However, one month later Lesnar was back to avenge his loss at Clash in Italy.

With a Hell in a Cell Match against Femi coming up in Brock’s hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota, its has yet to be confirmed whether a retirement stipulation will also be thrown in, as rumors indicated the event could potentially be the stage of his retirement.

As of now it seems like Lesnar may continue to wrestle as he approaches the age of 50 in 2027, and given he, like Billy Gunn, looks as large and menacing as ever, few will grumble at seeing ‘The Beast’ continue to dominate inside a WWE ring.

This year’s G1 Climax kicked off on Saturday at the NOW Arena in Hoffman, IL, with nine A Block and B Block matches taking place across the first round.

The fifth match of the night saw 2024 G1 winner Zack Sabre Jr. pick up a win over Shota Umino, courtesy of the Zack Driver. Unfortunately however, it appears as if Umino did not just walk away from the match with a pinfall loss to his name.

On July 15, NJPW issued a statement on their official website announcing that the former IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion has been pulled from the rest of the G1 tournament, after suffering a concussion during his match with Sabre Jr. on Saturday.

As a result, all of Umino’s remaining tournament matches are now deemed forfeits, with his opponents receiving two points each as a result.

NJPW confirmed that further announcements will also be made regarding any changes to forthcoming G1 match cards.

NJPW’s full statement reads as follows:

“Thank you for supporting New Japan Pro-Wrestling. 

“On July 11, during his match with Zack Sabre Jr. in Chicago, Shota Umino displayed symptoms of a concussion. After careful consultation, the decision has been made by medical staff to remove Umino from the remainder of G1 Climax 36.

“Each of Umino’s remaining tournament matches will be deemed forfeits, with his scheduled opponents receiving two points by default. 

“Further changes will be made to forthcoming cards as a result of Umino’s withdrawal. Announcements will be made when cards have been determined.

“We apologise to fans who were looking forward to seeing Umino wrestle, and appreciate your understanding. New Japan Pro-Wrestling joins fans in wishing Umino a speedy, full recovery.”

Umino was a part of the B Block of the G1, along with Aaron Wolf, HENARE, OSKAR, Ren Narita, Yuya Uemura and Callum Newman.

Former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Newman returned from injury during the first round of G1 action on Saturday, defeating Yuya Uemura. He has also been making a lot of headlines in regards to AEW’s Will Ospreay, with Newman unhappy with his former mentor joining up with Jon Moxley and the Death Riders.

Umino is another star who has gained a lot from the tutelage of Moxley over the years, with the pair running into each other as teammates and opponents in NJPW between 2019 and 2024.

Moxley’s Death Riders stablemate PAC unsuccessfully challenged Umino for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship at AEW Forbidden Door on June 28, however, Gabe Kidd – who is now officially a Death Rider himself – was able to get the job done, and ended Umino’s run as champion at NJPW’s Road to G1 Climax show on July 6.

We wish Shota Umino a full recovery from his concussion and hope to see him back in the ring soon.

Colby Covington is someone who found great success in the UFC across a 10-year stint in the promotion, winning the Interim Welterweight Championship in 2018 and competing in several high profile clashes with the likes of Kamaru Usman, Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards.

During his time in UFC, Covington drew comparisons to characters from the WWE due to his heel-like antics and trash talking to his opponents. Covington would even embrace this further by walking out to WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle’s entrance music at UFC Newark in 2019, which like Angle’s entrance, drew ‘You Suck’ chants from the crowd.

Covington recently retired from UFC in May of this year, turning his attention to competing in the Hulk Hogan-founded Real American Freestyle promotion, where he currently holds a record of 3 wins 0 draws 0 losses.

The 38-year-old recently sat down for an interview with Brian Mazique to discuss his upcoming fight with Arman Tsarukyan at Real American Freestyles 11 on July 18, and while doing so, he revealed that he has held talks with Triple H about the possibility of transitioning to WWE.

Covington said:

“RAF is definitely somewhere I see myself ending my competitive career at. Whether I entertain other fight offers and go back to the UFC and get some big fights, those are still possibilities. You never know what the future holds and what tomorrow holds. All I can do is control what I can control today and that’s just my hard training and preparing for Arman Tsarukyan and you just never know where life will take me.

“I’ve had some calls with Triple H and the WWE, so that’s a potential possibility in the future as well. But I’m all in on RAF, I invested my hard-earned money that I earned fighting into RAF to get a little small equity percentage and I care about the future.

“I want to see the future of wrestling thrive and prosper, and I want the next generation of wrestlers, amateur wrestlers, freestyle, wrestlers, to be able to come in and really make a good life for themselves. Because when I was a kid there was no outlet. It was either you finish when you’re in college, maybe try for the Olympics, but even if you make the Olympics doesn’t mean you’re going to make money to financially take care of yourself. You’re still making ends meet and living pay check to pay check but now RAF has come along and I think the future looks bright for RAF.

“We have great investors with FOX Nation and Spartan.com and Real American Beer and some of the other investors that are in on Real American Freestyle. I think the future of RAF is bright and I honestly think that some wrestlers someday are going to be on the Forbes list for highest paid athletes as a wrestler in RAF.”

Covington was later asked what he believes he would find the most challenging if he did transition to WWE, to which he named the intense travel demands on WWE stars as the biggest obstacle:

“Honestly I think the most difficult transition when I think about the pro wrestler schedule… They’re on the road 320, 330 days a year, they’re travelling to different countries. They got Monday Night Raw, Friday Night SmackDown, they got their pay-per-views. I mean, it’s a rigorous schedule.

“Just to keep sane during that time and keep your head in the game and be able to shoot a promo and go through the moves of the match. It’s challenging. It’s a very hard workload and I’ve never had that type of workload.

“I’m used to training for 8-10 weeks at a training camp, and then I go to one fight and I make a ton of money in one night and that’s it. I can chill for a couple months of a year, but wrestling it’s just back-to-back-to-back. So, I think it’s just understanding the travel schedule and trying to keep up with that. 

“I think the mic skills, they’re similar. Being able to shoot a promo is everything. I learned that. I was on TNA Impact with my boy Bobby Lashley and he showed me what it takes to shoot promos and how to do this and that. So, I feel like I would be very comfortable with that.

“And then the wrestling, I’ve been wrestling my whole life. I know how to be an athlete. I know how to do in-ring wrestling. So I feel like I would pick that up very quick. But I think the biggest challenge would definitely be the travel schedule.”

While WWE wrestlers were previously known to work upwards of 300+ dates per year, the travel schedule for talent has since drastically decreased, with TKO reducing the amount of WWE house shows by 75% in recent years.

The decision to reduce the number of house shows so significantly is something notable talent like Cody Rhodes has publicly been critical of, and for what it’s worth WWE did announce 10 new non-televised dates over the Summer months in the US as a part of their 2026 Summer Tour.

In 2020, Becky Lynch had reigned as the Raw Women’s Champion for a year after winning the title in the main event of WrestleMania 35 the prior year.

Becky defended the title at WrestleMania 36 against Shayna Baszler after Shayna had only recently been moved up to the WWE main roster, with many believing Shayna would be the one to end Becky’s reign with the title.

On top of the match being against Shayna, Becky also discovered that she was pregnant heading into the match, which led to her ultimately vacating the title after WrestleMania.

Speaking on Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum podcast, Becky noted that she had hoped to drop the title to Shayna at WrestleMania, but believes the company opted not to do so because of the pandemic.

She said:

“I was the champion at the time (of her pregnancy) as well, and I had hoped to have dropped the title at WrestleMania, because the company seemed like they were wanting to build this other girl.

“But I think because of the pandemic, I was a good guy at the time, they wanted all babyface finishes, they wanted the audience to be happy because there was enough going on.

“There was enough going on in the world for the world not to be happy about things, and WWE were like ‘lets make our audience happy about things’.

“But now I was the Women’s World Champion, the longest reigning champion in history, and I was pregnant, so I also had to drop the title, there is logistics around that too.”

Becky Lynch Was Scared To Tell Vince McMahon About Pregnancy

Continuing on, Becky noted that the scariest part of her pregnancy was having to tell Vince McMahon that she was pregnant.

Becky noted she was scared to tell Vince about her pregnancy out of fear she would ‘ruin things’ for a generation of women after he just took the chance on having them main event WrestleMania.

She added:

“The scariest of all was telling my boss, Vince McMahon.

“I called him and I was, oh my God I was terrified. I was terrified he was gonna- I was his champion and he had taken this chance on women main eventing, etc. I was like ‘oh no, what if I’ve ruined it for a generation of women’.

“Then I was like, that’s also not fair. We should be able to do both. That’s how my head was going into that conversation of ‘oh, this is great for me, but now I’ve ruined women for life. They’ll never be trusted again’.”

On last week’s episode of WWE SmackDown, the latest clash between Jade Cargill’s crew and the babyfaces took place, this time with Jade facing off against Alexa Bliss in singles action.

Jade would once again pick up the win over Alexa, though it was after the match that she dealt the most damage.

Jade, Michin and B-Fab would launch an attack on Alexa and Charlotte Flair, with Michin and B-Fab holding Charlotte down in the corner of the ring as Jade turned her attention to Alexa.

Alexa Bliss Sells SmackDown Attack From Jade Cargill

Jade would grab a steel chair and bend the arm of Alexa, with Alexa’s arm ‘snapping’ during the assault, with Alexa’s arm bending the wrong way due to her double jointed elbows.

Alexa has previously used her double jointed elbow to create the illusion of injury, most notably during her rivalry with Ronda Rousey in 2018.

In a video posted to her Instagram, Alexa Bliss continued to sell her arm injury, with her sporting an arm brace in the video, which you can see here.

Charlotte and Alexa had previously been teaming with Rhea Ripley against Jade, Michin and B-Fab, and were more recently teaming with Tiffany Stratton due to Rhea Ripley being off television due to her knee injury.

With a singles match between Charlotte Flair and Jade Cargill seemingly being built up for SummerSlam, Alexa has found herself constantly on the receiving end of attacks from Jade, Michin and B-Fab.

With Alexa continuing to be attacked, there are many fans who are speculating that we could see Alexa finally snap and turn on Charlotte either at or after SummerSlam, setting up a feud between the two coming out of the event.

Alexa made her return to WWE back at the Royal Rumble in 2025 after two years away on maternity leave, with her receiving an incredible ovation from fans on the night.

Alexa has remained popular ever since, and while she has helped Charlotte become much more popular among the WWE crowds, a feud between the two would only further help establish Charlotte as a top babyface on the roster.

On last night’s WWE Raw show, a vignette aired hyping up the return of Big Cass to WWE after eight years away.

Big Cass had been signed to AEW as Big Bill, with his contract with the company now having expired, and him re-signing with WWE.

Prior to signing with AEW, Big Cass had been dealing with a lot of personal demons in relation to his alcohol addiction, which he fought against to come out on the other side several years ago thanks to the help of Diamond Dallas Page.

It has been reported that WWE may also be set to bring back Enzo Amore alongside Big Cass, though he was not featured in last night’s vignette.

Bully Ray ‘So Happy’ For Big Cass’ WWE Return

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray explained why he ‘popped so hard’ for Big Cass’ return vignette, and his personal connection to him.

He said:

“The vignette for what looks to be the return of Big Cass. On a personal level, on a professional level, I popped so hard to see that last night. On a professional level, when Enzo and Cass debuted in the Barclays Center, guess who were the two guys in the ring with them; Bubba and D-Von. We were there to hear 20,000 people chanting every single word those guys had as if they were Road Dogg and Billy Gunn.

“On a personal level, me and Tommy had put Big Cass in an ambulance one night in the ECW Arena because he had hit rock bottom, and he has come back way, way, way from the pits of hell.

“Glad to see the vignette from Big Cass. I hope Enzo’s not far behind, I hope we get these two guys back together, but if it’s just Big Cass on his own, so happy for that dude.”

Enzo & Big Cass’ WWE Potential

When Enzo and Cass debuted on the WWE main roster, they were immediately one of the most popular acts on the entire show for the first year of their run.

Just over a year into their main roster run, the duo broke up after Big Cass was revealed to be the mystery attacker of Enzo backstage, leading to him turning heel and beginning his solo run, with both men ultimately being released the following year.

If Enzo and Cass are able to return with even a fraction of their popularity from their initial run, then we may finally see them become tag team champions this year, with potential solo plans for Big Cass after the fact too.

2025 saw Penta join WWE Raw in January, with Rey Fenix following suit in March of that year as a member of the SmackDown roster.

Kept apart on their respective brands, Penta has now shared an update the possibility of reuniting with his brother.

Speaking to the Dallas Morning News, the WWE Intercontinental Champion stated he knows it will happen, just not when, explaining:

“Definitely, definitely. I expect that. Because I know in my heart, at some point, the Lucha Bros will come together again.

“When? I don’t know exactly, but for now, I’ll enjoy this kind of season in my life, in my career, in singles.

“My brother, too. Now he is champion, I am champion. Now we’ve started building in different ways. … But the most important thing is, I promise you, at some point the Lucha Bros will be back.”

The Lucha Brothers last competed together on the July 19 2024, episode of AEW Rampage, defeating Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen).

Real-life brothers, it’s odd that WWE has opted not to cement that relationship on television, keeping both stars on separate brands since their respective signings.

The Usos and The Creed Brothers continue a legacy of family members as teams, with The Hardy Boyz being among those to have paved a path that saw Dustin & Cody Rhodes and Bo Dallas & Bray Wyatt compete.

With WWE continuing to seek a lucha star to follow the legendary Rey Mysterio, it seems wise that Penta and Rey Fenix would be able to establish themselves as singles stars to the fanbase.

For Fenix, a WWE main roster championship is yet to find his way into his hands, although he is the current World Cruiserweight Champion over in AAA, adding to quite a legacy when it comes to titles in the Mexico-based promotion, including two-time run as World Tag Team Champion with Penta.

Penta is the current WWE Intercontinental Champion, having defeated Dominik Mysterio to capture the title on the March 2 episode of Raw this year.

Both stars have a history in AAA, and the potential of reuniting them over there stands out as an interesting course that could still keep them separate on WWE television until the time is right to bring them back together.
