After Chad Gable went down with an injury in the Summer of 2025, the El Grande Americano character continued on with a new wrestler under the mask, and the character going in a much different direction than it had with Gable portraying El Grande.

Appearing for AAA, the new version of El Grande Americano, played by Ludwig Kaiser, was a beloved fan favourite in Mexico, with Chad Gable being heavily booed in Mexico in favour of Kaiser’s portrayal of the character, despite the roles being reversed on the main roster.

At Noche de los Grandes, El Grande Americano would defeat the Original El Grande Americano in an instant classic mask vs. mask match, with the original unmasking and returning to being Chad Gable, while El Grande set his sights on even higher goals.

El Grande Americano wins AAA Mega Championship at TripleMania 34

Namely, after winning the Rey de Reyes, El Grande turned his attention to becoming AAA Mega Champion, the title that Dominik Mysterio has held for the past year.

The match between Dominik and El Grande Americano was made official for night two of AAA TripleMania 34 in Mexico City that took place tonight, with El Grande Americano defeating Dominik to become the new AAA Mega Champion.

Despite JD McDonagh and Liv Morgan trying to help Mysterio, Grande managed to score the win with AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio coming out to count the pin after the referee had been taken out.

El Grande is the third person to hold the AAA Mega Championship under the WWE umbrella, with the first being El Hijo del Vikingo, who lost it at last year’s TripleMania to Dominik Mysterio.

Dominik Mysterio’s future following AAA Mega Championship loss

With Dominik Mysterio no longer the AAA Mega Champion, we may see less of him on AAA going forward.

However, Omos defeated Rey Mysterio on night one of TripleMania on Friday to be reinstated by the promotion after he was suspended, with Omos and Dominik being members of El Ojo together with Dorian Roldan.

With Omos back in AAA, it seems as though we will still be seeing more of Dominik in AAA, as it doesn’t look as though Omos would be appearing on Raw in the near future.

It was recently reported that Dominik was frustrated with the differences between his main roster and AAA booking, so it seems as though he will want to remain in AAA for longer after his defeat tonight.

On August 12, 2023, Flammer captured her first AAA Reina de Reinas Championship after defeating Taya Valkyrie for the title.

Alongside Lady Maravilla and La Hiedra as Las Toxicas, Flammer has gone on to create history with the title, with her now the longest reigning champion in the history of the title at 1128 days.

Flammer captured the title before WWE’s purchase of the promotion, and remains the only current champion in AAA to still reign as champion from before WWE’s takeover of the company.

La Catalina wins AAA Reina de Reinas Championship, ends Flammer’s 1128 day reign

However, Flammer has had to fend off the threat of La Catalina over the past few months since she left CMLL to join AAA, with them already facing off in a three-way for the title with Lady Shani, which Flammer retained in.

At tonight’s TripleMania 34 night two, the singles match between Flammer and Catalina finally took place, and it brought with it the first new Reina de Reinas Champion in over three years, as La Catalina was able to defeat Flammer to win the title for the first time in her career.

La Catalina becomes the second Chilean woman in 24 hours to become women’s champion in WWE after Stephanie Vaquer’s victory over Liv Morgan at last night’s WWE live event in Chile.

This is Catalina’s first title of her WWE career, with her having previously worked for the company from 2019 to 2021, competing under the names Katrina Cortez and briefly on WWE Raw as Carolina, where she teamed with Sin Cara.

The potential of both Flammer & La Catalina in WWE

While AAA is run as an entirely separate promotion instead of being viewed as a developmental brand for WWE, most of the frequently appearing names are under contract to WWE.

With both just being 26 years old, there is an incredible amount of potential for both Flammer and Catalina not only in AAA, but in WWE altogether.

Catalina recently appeared on WWE’s live event tour in South America, where she teamed with Tatum Paxley and Charlotte Flair against Fatal Influence, so she has already shared the ring with some main roster WWE names during her run.

With Flammer no longer the Reina de Reinas Champion, and Las Toxicas seemingly on the verge of a breakup, we may see Flammer soon make the move to NXT alongside her appearances in AAA.

After making her return to WWE television on the Raw after SummerSlam, Becky Lynch has been chasing the Women’s World Championship held by Liv Morgan, with her and Stephanie Vaquer having a lot of tension as they both looked to become champion.

At last night’s WWE live event in Chile, Stephanie Vaquer defeated Liv Morgan to win the title thanks to the help of Becky Lynch who served as the Special Guest Referee.

Becky Lynch to appear on Paul Walter Hauser’s ‘Boy Talk’

While Becky has been busy on television in her pursuit of the championship, she is also going to be busy outside of the ring soon.

Per Deadline, actors Paul Walter Hauser and Julian Sergi are set to launch their new YouTube series ‘Boy Talk’, in which the guests will be asked questions on ‘how to be a man’.

The description reads:

Boy Talk will feature a rotating panel of, sometimes uncomfortable, celebrity guests, from musicians to athletes and influencers, for a “bro sesh”. The lineup includes Love Island USA and Traitors star Rob Rausch, NBA All-Star Blake Griffin, musician Teddy Swims, UFC star Chuck Liddell, WWE star Becky Lynch, world champion fencer Miles Chamlay-Watson, car builder and creator Emilia Hartford and Queer Eye star Bobby Berk.

Paul Walter Hauser himself is a big wrestling fan, with him competing in several matches on the independents and in ROH over the past few years, as well as making appearances on AEW television.

Will Becky Lynch become Women’s World Champion in Dublin?

Last month, Finn Balor and Becky Lynch announced that WWE Raw would take place in Dublin, Ireland for the first time on January 25, 2027.

In recent months, we have seen a number of world title changes on WWE television when the challenger is in their home town, notably CM Punk in Chicago against Sami Zayn, and last night’s live event in Chile with Stephanie Vaquer dethroning Liv Morgan.

With Raw emanating in Dublin, we may now know the date that Becky will regain the Women’s World Championship if the trend continues, especially if Liv Morgan regains the title beforehand.

Becky vs. Stephanie could then go on to be the major match for the title at WrestleMania 43.

On this week’s WWE Raw show, Stephanie Vaquer challenged Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship in a rematch from their encounter at WrestleMania 42 where Morgan won the title.

Stephanie was unsuccessful in the match after interference from the other members of Judgment Day, which Becky had warned her about prior to the match, with Becky even coming to ringside for the match to help fend off Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez.

WWE is currently in the midst of a tour of South America, with them holding a live event tonight in Santiago, Chile.

Stephanie Vaquer Wins Women’s World Championship In Chile

With the show being in Chile, WWE announced on social media that Stephanie would once again challenge Liv for the Women’s World Championship in her home country, this time with Becky Lynch as the Special Referee.

Stephanie and Liv have faced off on almost every night of the ongoing tour, which raised a lot of fans’ eyes when WWE advertised the match in Santiago on social media.

We now clearly know the reason behind the hype, as Stephanie actually defeated Liv on tonight’s live event, becoming a two-time Women’s World Champion in her home country.

WWE’s Recent Trend Of Shock Title Changes Is A Good Thing

During the Triple H era of WWE, it had become a tradition that most championship reigns would last for a long time, with the most notable examples being Roman Reigns’ legendary Universal Championship run, and Gunther’s record-breaking Intercontinental Championship reign.

The change was a welcome one at the start of the Triple H era due to the feeling that titles flipped uneventfully all the time during the Vince McMahon era, but it eventually got to a point where almost every title reign would last for months, and led to the reigns and product become stagnant.

In the past year, a lot more surprise title changes have taken place, with the WWE Championship itself changing hands on free television four times in 2026 alone, a nice change of pace from the typical year long reigns of the Triple H regime prior.

However, it is important that not every single title changes hands frequently all the time, and a balance must be found between constantly flipping titles, and continuing lengthy reigns of substance.

WWE held night one of it’s AAA TripleMania 34 event last night in Las Vegas, with a number of matches taking place on the show featuring both WWE and AAA talent.

The opening match was a six-person mixed tag team match, which saw the team of Adelicious, Mascarita Sagrada and Mini Vikingo defeat Lady Shani, Jack Cartwheel and Mini Abismo Negro.

However, the women’s stars in the match were in action less than expected, as Lady Shani was legitimately pulled from the match after seemingly suffering an injury.

Shani’s injury was a freak incident that left a lot of fans confused, as well as Adelicious spending most of the match on the apron due to Shani being removed from the match.

There has been a lot of concerns about Shani’s status, and it seems as though we got the best possible outcome from the situation.

Per False Finish, sources indicate that Lady Shani is doing well after being pulled from the match at TripleMania, with her showing no signs of having suffered a concussion as many had first feared.

We will provide any updates on Shani’s situation as they become available.

TripleMania 34 Night Two Takes Over Mexico City

With night one now in the books, all eyes turn to Mexico City for night two of TripleMania 34, in what will be AAA’s biggest event of the year.

The main event will see El Grande Americano walk into Mexico City to challenge Dominik Mysterio for the AAA Mega Championship after winning the Rey de Reyes earlier this year.

The show will also see the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship be defended, as Flammer’s reign of over three years will be tested against La Catalina, as well as the War Raiders defending the AAA Tag Team Championship in an open challenge.

While night one itself was a fun show with some good matches, AAA has heavily stacked the second night of TripleMania this year, and it will likely go down as one of, if not the, best shows produced by the WWE umbrella in the entirety of 2026.

Punk put his title on the line on the September 11 show in Mexico City against Sami Zayn, the man who he previously defeated to become champion.

Sami Zayn ultimately left the arena with the gold, pinning Punk following interference from Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae and Kevin Owens.

With CM Punk’s title reign coming to an end on its 67th day, the now-former champion took to his Instagram story to confirm that he didn’t plan this as a meme reference for Je’Von Evans.

Punk shared a heartfelt message, indicating that he will remain on WWE TV following his championship loss and expressing gratitude that he gets to come to work.

He wrote:

“I lost. 67 day undisputed title run. At 47. I’d like to say I did it on purpose for my boy (Je’Von Evans) but nobody wants to lose.

Here’s the thing: Winners lose way more than losers do. I don’t have to try again. I get to try again. I didn’t have to come to Mexico. I don’t HAVE to do house shows. I get to. I get to wrestle in front of the best fans in the world in Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mexico City.

I don’t have to get the title back. I get to try to get the title back. I don’t HAVE to come to work. I GET TO COME TO WORK. So I’ll see you all in Corpus Christi. I will get MY title back. You don’t have to watch. You get to.”

As referenced above, Punk’s next WWE TV appearance will be during next Friday’s (September 18) SmackDown episode, which will emanate from the Hilliard Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Punk became champion on the July 6 Raw episode in Chicago, defeating Sami Zayn in his first match since losing the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42.

He defended the gold against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam, Kevin Owens on the August 21 SmackDown episode, and Johnny Gargano on the September 4 show, ahead of losing the gold back to Zayn.

With Punk having ended Zayn’s first WWE world title reign after just nine days, many fans had called for Sami to eventually win the gold back.

It will be interesting to see how WWE will prevent Sami Zayn now that he’s a two-time champion, in a reign which will almost definitely be longer than his first.

Back in July, Sami Zayn finally captured the Undisputed WWE Championship for the first time in his career, when he defeated Cody Rhodes to win the title at Night of Champions.

Sami’s reign would only last for 9 days however, with him dropping the title to CM Punk in Chicago on Raw in a match that was initially set to be against Rhodes before he was taken out by Gunther.

Since losing the title, Sami has continued to be screwed out of opportunities, with him not getting his rematch for the title, having two men added to his number one contender’s match at SummerSlam, and his planned contender’s match with Cody Rhodes not getting underway.

After continuing to be a thorn in the side of CM Punk, Punk would finally offer Sami a shot at the title on tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown in Mexico City.

Sami Zayn Wins Undisputed WWE Championship On SmackDown

Ahead of the match, Johnny Gargano approached Sami backstage, with him saying that he would have the first shot at the title if Sami won it tonight, which led to Gargano and Candice LeRae getting involved in the main event.

They weren’t the only people who would get involved, as Kevin Owens would attempt to get involved and hit Sami Zayn with the WWE Championship just as Sami did to him during his match with Punk, only for Owens to accidentally hit Punk.

Sami would then go low on Owens, before hitting Punk with the Helluva Kick to begin his second reign as WWE Champion.

Will Kevin Owens Get His Second World Title Reign?

With Sami Zayn now a two-time Undisputed WWE Champion, he has now held more world championships in WWE than Kevin Owens, who had one reign as Universal Champion in 2016-17.

With Owens now back in the fold, many fans have been waiting almost a decade for his return to the mountaintop, which now feels a lot more likely than it has in years past.

While Gunther, Finn Balor and others continue to chase the WWE Championship, Sami losing his title to Owens to kick off KO’s second world title reign would make for an incredible moment.

Two weeks ago on SmackDown, R-Truth and Damian Priest met up backstage, where Priest was looking to go his separate ways with Truth following their WWE Tag Team Championship loss to the MFTs.

However, Truth would tell Priest that he got the pair of them another match against the War Raiders for the AAA Tag Team Championship for tonight’s WWE SmackDown show in Mexico City.

The match was being spoken about by Priest and Truth as if it would be their final match together as a team unless they won the titles, which ultimately didn’t end up happening.

Damian Priest Turns On R-Truth On WWE SmackDown

Erik and Ivar would pick up the win over Truth to retain the titles, with them now set to defend the titles at TripleMania 34 night two in an open challenge this Sunday in Mexico City.

However, Priest would help Truth to his feet after the match, with the two of them celebrating together with the crowd in Mexico City, only for Priest to turn heel by laying out Truth with a South of Heaven.

Priest initially turned face in the Summer of 2024 when he was removed from the Judgment Day at SummerSlam after Finn Balor cost him his World Heavyweight Championship against Gunther.

Priest has been speaking about potentially chasing the Undisputed WWE Championship in recent weeks, with him now potentially having the chance to move back up the card as a heel on the show.

Will Damian Priest Be World Champion In WWE Again?

With the current landscape of WWE, there are a number of top stars currently occupying the top spots in the company, especially on the SmackDown brand, where there are five or six names chasing the WWE Championship.

When Priest became World Heavyweight Champion in 2024, it came at a time when there were less top stars fighting at the top, and also less ‘sure fire’ future champions like Oba Femi and Bron Breakker are now, so there was more room for Priest to find success.

Unless Priest really catches fire as a heel, it’s hard to imagine a scenario where he returns to the top spot on SmackDown.

After being called up to the WWE main roster back in January, Jordynne Grace has not appeared on WWE television in many months, with her last SmackDown match taking place against Tiffany Stratton back in March.

Another women’s WWE star that has not appeared on WWE television since March is Ivy Nile, with her last appearance being part of the Women’s Intercontinental Championship Gauntlet match that was won by Bayley to set up her match with AJ Lee for the title.

It was recently reported that Ivy’s WWE contract was set to expire soon, with speculation about when, or if, she would return to WWE television, and it seems we may have our answer soon.

Ivy Nile & Jordynne Grace Tag Team Forming Soon?

Per False Finish, there has been creative pitches within the company regarding a potential new women’s tag team consisting of Ivy Nile and Jordynne Grace.

It is not yet confirmed if the team will form on WWE television, or what brand they would be a part of, as Ivy is a current member of the Raw roster, while Jordynne is part of the SmackDown roster.

Tonight’s SmackDown show will feature two women’s matches, with Chelsea Green defending her Interim WWE Women’s Championship against Nia Jax, while Paige will face off against Nikki Bella.

Ever since the Women’s Tag Team Champions were introduced in WWE back in 2019, the division has never truly had a lot of spotlight and attention put in by WWE creative, both under Vince McMahon and now Triple H.

With Fatal Influence currently reigning as the champions, fans have hoped that their reign could finally be the one that sees more focus be put on the division.

On the current roster, WWE has any combination of Judgment Day members, any combination of Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley, Michin & B-Fab and the Irresistible Forces in it’s division currently available.

There is definitely spot for a new top team in the division, specifically on the babyface side, which would be the perfect slot for Ivy Nile and Jordynne Grace to slide into.

Notable exceptions to the roster listed on WWE’s roster are Damian Priest, who recently made the move over to AAA from SmackDown, as well as all members of Los Perros Del Mal, with Karmen Petrovic still listed as part of the NXT roster, while Angel and Berto are part of the SmackDown roster.

The current AAA roster also lists Lola Vice, who seemingly recently left the brand ahead of her call up to the WWE main roster.

After he was taken out of action from an attack by Jacob Fatu in their Street Fight on Raw, Royce Keys made his return to WWE television on Raw two weeks ago, and he didn’t come alone.

Keys returned as a heel alongside Bronco Nima and Lucien Price of OTM from NXT, with the trio taking out the Usos, LA Knight and Solo Sikoa.

The trio, now going by the name ‘946’, have been heavily featured on Raw since their debut, with them being part of this week’s closing segment where they set fire to Jacob Fatu’s car.

‘Massive Praise’ On Royce Keys Within WWE

Amid the ongoing spotlight on the group, there has been an update on how the company views the group, and Keys specifically, following their debut.

Per WRKD Wrestling, Royce Keys has been given massive praise behind the scenes for being able to instantly slot into a major main event role effortlessly.

Furthermore, they noted that plans are being formed to continue featuring the group, with some within the company believing they would be a perfect fit for War Games.

A New Member For 946?

If 946 were to be a part of War Games, then we would likely see more names be added to the group in order to fill out the ranks for what is typically a 5 vs. 5 affair.

The first War Games match WWE ran in NXT was a 3 vs. 3 vs. 3 match, which could obviously also be the case here, but it seems unlikely that the main roster would change to that style after four years.

While it was noted that plans for now would see Keys be the sole leader of 946, and it will remain just he, Nima and Price for now, there is a chance other names could join the group in the future.

There is an ongoing conspiracy theory among fans that Jacob Fatu is secretly working with Keys and the 946, which would definitely make for an impactful reveal to add spice into both the 946 group and also the ongoing chapter of the Bloodline storyline.

Dorian Van Dux

Forming a new team with Sean Legacy that has seen the pair already come close to the NXT Tag Team Championship, Dorian Van Dux has become an in-ring standout on the brand.

Under the tutelage of Noam Dar, Moreno is beginning to make a name for himself every week with his Spanish heritage proudly on display.

Myka Lockwood

With the Vanity Project now all holding gold as Jackson Drake reigns as NXT North American Champion while Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes reign as NXT Tag Team Champions, they have been helped along the way by the imposing Myka Lockwood.
