Former WWE star Tony Nese was not told he was winning the Cruiserweight Championship until the day of WrestleMania 35.
Nese recently spoke with the Wrestling Perspective Podcast where he talked about winning the title at WrestleMania 35. Fightful Select (subscription required) has reported a portion of the interview.
Nese challenged fellow former WWE star Buddy Murphy for the Cruiserweight Championship at the show. He was able to get the win in the first match of the night, marking his only title win in WWE.
According to his interview, he did not know he was winning the title until the day of the show.
