Former WWE talent Vito – who had two stints with the company in 1991-1993 and 2005-2007 – has criticized the WWE 24/7 Championship in a recent interview with Wrestling Inc:
“The 24/7 title is the worst thing that they got going because they make all those professional wrestlers chase after that title and they look ridiculous. They look like boys. You don’t go chasing around people as a comedy routine to get a title.”
Vito offered up an alternate idea for what WWE should have done instead of the 24/7 Title.
“What they should have done is have a TV title and bring it back with prestige. Have the guy go from Raw to SmackDown to NXT and have three matches a week. You’re gonna watch that match because you wanna see who is the next TV champion.”
While it is undeniable that he has a point in the sense that it is all a bit ridiculous and does often make the likes of EC3 and Robert Roode look like massive geeks, it’s also one of the most entertaining things in the company thanks to the likes of R-Truth and Drake Maverick.
The 24/7 Title is currently held by Elias after briefly losing it to R-Truth and Fox Sports host Rob Stone this past weekend.
