WWE officially announced the signing of Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Steveson last night.
The signing of Steveson has, naturally, led to many fans comparing him to the last Olympic Gold Medal winning wrestling to appear in WWE, a guy by the name of Kurt Angle. You may have heard of him.
Steveson took to Twitter shortly after his signing was announced, and after he had heard endless comparisons to Angle. He tweeted:
I’m not the next Kurt Angle.. I’m Gable Steveson.. Now, Please Enjoy The Show.. Thank you!
Steveson has absolutely gone about this the correct way, as comparing him to a legend like Angle is setting expectations extremely high, an issue that has also fallen upon fellow WWE Performance Center recruit Parker Boudreaux.
Steveson’s brother Bobby also recently signed with WWE, being announced in the most recent Performance Center class.
