- Raquel Gonzalez & Dakota Kai vs. Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter
- Kushida’s NXT Cruiserweight Championship Open Challenge
- LA Knight Million Dollar Championship Address
- Tornado Tag Team Match – Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Timothy Thatcher & Tommaso Ciampa
- Io Shirai Promo
- Imperium vs. Breezango
Regal and Samoa Joe interviewed...again (for the first time, I don't know)
They air the clip of William Regal and Samoa Joe in the parking lot that was clearly aired prematurely earlier. They honestly say nothing of note here, just that things will be different going forward.
Well, the production side of the show had a very rough night tonight but the show itself was very good.
Tornado Tag Team Match - Timothy Thatcher & Tommaso Ciampa def. Grizzled Young Veterans
Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa attacked the Grizzled Young Veterans before the bell while the Veterans tried to cut a promo.
The babyfaces got the fight in the ring and both beat on the chests of Zack Gibson and James Drake. Thatcher got sent to the outside as Ciampa tried to fight both Veterans by himself. It worked for a while until GYV managed to hit a drop toe-hold and a dropkick.
GYV then turned their attention to Thatcher and beat on him in the ring, hitting a side suplex-neckbreaker combo. Ciampa managed to get GYV onto the floor and whipped them both into the timekeepers area and hit a running hip attack on both of them.
Back in the ring, Thatcher and Ciampa ran wild with clotheslines which the camera missed about half of.
Back from commercial and the Grizzled Young Veterans had control with Drake locking in a submission and Gibson stomping on Ciampa. Thatcher started a comeback, hitting a belly to belly suplex before Ciampa accidentally booted him in the face.
GYV and the babyfaces fought for control until Thatcher hit a butterfly suplex on Gibson and Ciampa hit an avalanche Air Raid Crash on Drake for a nearfall. Thatcher got sent to the outside and GYV hit a suicide dive-Doomsday Device on Ciampa.
Thatcher and Gibson exchanged a ton of submission attempts and counters until Drake came in and helped Gibson get the upper hand. GYV hit an assisted backstabber which Ciampa broke up.
Gibson hit Ciampa with a side suplex on the announce table cover which didn’t break. Ciampa fired back with an Air Raid Crash on the announce table which also didn’t break. Poor Gibson.
Back in the ring, Thatcher beat down Drake, allowing Ciampa to hit the Fairytale Ending. Thatcher and Ciampa both locked in submissions as Drake tapped out.
The Way interrupts William Regal
They go back to William Regal in his office and they try to ask him how things went tonight again but Johnny Gargano and Austin Theory interrupted the interview.
Gargano talked about how Regal lost his mind when he broke a pencil in his face. He kept talking until Samoa Joe told him to get out.
Pete Dunne then walked in and had a staredown with Samoa Joe.
William Reg-Thatcher & Ciampa talk to MSK
So William Regal and Samoa Joe were walking out and were asked how the night went but then there was a weird cut to MSK in a hallway eating popcorn wishing luck to Ciampa and Thatcher.
They never cut back to Regal and Joe and this was just really odd.
Io Shirai Promo
Io Shirai comes out and says she is back and feels good. She says something in Japanese and is about to say who her next target is when she is interrupted by Candice LeRae.
LeRae says she is no longer an uncrowned champion and Shirai is no longer unbeatable. LeRae says Shirai has to earn her opportunities and that Shirai should not mess with her.
Indi Hartwell attacks Shirai from behind and Shirai briefly fight both of them off, hitting a 619 on Hartwell. The Way fight back and send Shirai to the floor and LeRae tells Hartwell to hit an elbow drop on the announce table.
Zoey Stark came out to make the save and Shirai hit a springboard double dropkick to send The Way packing.
Ever-Rise is upset
Ever-Rise is upset that Hit Row destroyed their little playhouse thing. They said they would rebuild.
Raquel Gonzalez & Dakota Kai def. Kayden Carter & Kacy Catanzaro
Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter got the upper hand early as they took down Dakota Kai early.
They continued to get the shine when Raquel Gonzalez tagged in with Catanzaro hitting a ton of high-flying offense. Carter tagged back in and hit a crossbody to the outside as the show went to commercial.
Back from commercial and the heels are in control. They were working over Catanzaro until she made the hot tag to Carter. Carter ran wild, taking out both Gonzalez and Kai with a kick and a splash combo.
She also hit a running kick on Kai before Gonzalez tagged in and hit a sidewalk slam for a nearfall. Gonzalez and Kai hit a double team move before Catanzaro broke up the pin.
Carter and Catanzaro got back on offense, sending Gonzalez to the outside and hitting a hurricanrana into the apron. They hit a neckbreaker-450 splash combo but Gonzalez pulled Catanzaro out of the ring.
Kai then hit the GTK for the win.
Raquel and Dakota want gold
Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai are backstage and say that they are going to beat Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter tonight and then they are coming for The Way’s NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship.
LA Knight Million Dollar Championship Address
Ted DiBiase welcomed LA Knight to the ring and Knight cut a low-key promo.
Knight said that rarely do you get to meet your heroes and even less often are they better than you dreamed. He said DiBiase was his hero and to have DiBiase be there to crown him the Million Dollar Champion is a dream come true.
He talked about having DiBiase’s action figure and asked for DiBiase to present him with the belt. DiBiase did so and did his laugh as pyro went off.
Knight said he has everything he ever wanted and now he can get rid of what he doesn’t need. He then dropped DiBiase with a punch and beat on him until Cameron Grimes made the save.
Franky Monet trying to break up the Robert Stone Brand
Franky Monet said next week will be the encore of her world premiere before walking off and finding Aliyah and Jessi Kamea.
Monet says they were going to win before Robert Stone got involved. Stone walked in and she changed her tune saying she was telling them to listen to him more. Looks like this faction is headed for splitsville.
NXT Cruiserweight Championship Match - Kushida (c) def. Trey Baxter
We had a nice video package for the challenger Trey Baxter who was known on the indies as Blake Christian. He is a high-flyer.
Kushida and Baxter were very evenly matched in the early parts of this match. Baxter used his high-flying ability to get the upper hand but hit the superhero landing before Kushida attacked him and made him pay for showboating.
Baxter was able to get a huge nearfall in this match as he hit a spanish fly and a big 450 Splash. He went to the top rope again and Kushida hit a massive armbreaker from the top and then locked in the Hoverboard lock for the win.
After the match, Kyle O’Reilly said he wanted to face the best and challenged Kushida to a match next week.
Santos Escobar Backstage
Santos Escobar is backstage and says what happened at Takeover was a travesty. He said Bronson Reed had to put him through a wall and now he will take the North American Championship one-on-one.
Samoa Joe breaks up a scrap
Backstage William Regal was trying to break up a brawl with Kyle O’Reilly and Adam Cole. Regal says they’ll go one on one at the Great American Bash and will pick their own opponents next week.
They continued to brawl when Samoa Joe broke it up. Adam Cole shoved him off to go back to Kyle but Joe choked him out and walked away.
Breezango def. Imperium
Breezango had the early advantage in this match with Fandango hitting a big dive to the outside. Fandango tried to go up top but Marcel Barthell threw Tyler Breeze in the ring to distract him long enough for Fabian Aichner to knock Fandango down for the heat.
Back from commercial, Aichner and Barthell were taking turns working Fandango over. Fandango almost made the tag to Breeze but he was cut off a couple of times before finally making the tag.
Breeze was immediately hit with a clothesline to cut him off but Breeze small packaged Aichner for the pin.
After the match, Imperium beat up Breezango and laid their flag over Breeze.
Grizzled Young Veterans Backstage
Zack Gibson and James Drake are backstage and say that they have lived with people looking down their nose at them their whole lives. They are tired of the insults from Ciampa and Thatcher and will take it out on them tonight in their Tornado Tag Team Match.
William Regal Announcement/Samoa Joe Return!
William Regal comes out and is already crying, overcome with emotion. He says he has been part of NXT since the beginning when he was just a commentator.
He said he has been here as he watched NXT grow and tour the United States and then the world. He said he got to see NXT go to Blackpool and he got to watch the show with his nieces.
Regal says he and H talked about making this show what they dreamed for it ten years ago and now he doesn’t think he can give the NXT fans what they deserve because of the chaos on this show.
Karrion Kross interrupts and says he knew this day was coming. He calls Regal pathetic and says he has shown that he can run NXT through chaos. He says he punched a hole through Mt. Rushmore and now he wants to hear Regal say he quits.
Samoa Joe makes his return to interrupt. He says Regal wanted to speak with him and Regal names him the new NXT General Manager. Samoa Joe says absolutely not because he saw Regal run NXT and transform it into an international phenomenon.
He said while he may have made life hell for Regal but he still gave him respect and said he would be happy to make sure Regal receives the respect he deserves from everyone.
Regal says in this proposal Joe may not compete and may not lay a hand on anyone unless provoked and Joe agrees and asks Kross what he is still doing in the ring. Kross left with a chorus of Na Na Na Na Hey Hey Hey Goodbye.
