Matt Hardy has teased that AEW President Tony Khan may have bought out Jeff Hardy’s WWE contract.
Following Khan’s announcement that a free agent will debut on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite and slam the forbidden door on their previous promotion, Speculation arose over Jeff’s WWE status.
Matt Hardy recently confirmed that Hardy had a 90-day non-compete clause following his WWE departure in December. This would mean that Jeff will become a free agent on March 10.
Matt has now hinted that Jeff may already be a free agent thanks to Tony Khan. Suggesting that the AEW President has enough money to buy Jeff out of his WWE contract during his Monday Twitch stream, Matt said:
“As far as an update on Jeff and what’s going on, I don’t think he’s the guy that’s coming in this Wednesday against Isiah Kassidy. Although who knows? Tony Khan, Papa Khan’s got a lot of money. Maybe he bought out his contract. And maybe it is happening early. Who knows?”
The debuting free agent will face off against Isiah Kassidy in a Face of Revolution ladder match qualifier. A number of AEW talents are reportedly speculating that Keith Lee, who recently became a free agent, will make his surprise AEW debut on Wednesday.
