It was announced on tonight’s edition of NXT that for the first time ever there will be a women’s Dusty Rhodes Classic. William Regal and Dexter Lumis made the announcement.
The men’s tournament has occured regularly since the first one in 2015. The tournament originally took place during the fall before moving to the Spring in 2018.
No teams have been officially announced for the tournament, however NXT does have a number of women’s teams to participate. Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez, and even Xia Li and Meiko Satomura could all potentially be involved in the tournament.
It remains to be seen what the tournament will be for. While there is no NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship, the winner could theoretically receive a shot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. However, that is merely speculation.
We will provide any updates on the tournament as they become available.
