WWE and Gabe Sapolsky are no longer involved in a lawsuit filed by Samantha Tavel, who wrestles under the name Candy Cartwright.
According to PWInsider, United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois Judge Manish S. Shah terminated them as defendants in a ruling on March 24.
However, WWE star Matt Riddle’s attempt to dismiss the lawsuit was denied.
It was ruled by the court that Tavel failed to prove factually that the court held jurisdiction over WWE or Sapolsky and she could also not prove that either was in any way connected to her claims against Riddle.
The lawsuit stared in October 2020, when Tavel filed it against EVOLVE Wrestling, Gabe Sapolsky, Matt Riddle, and WWE , seeking $10 million from each defendant.
Gabe Sapolsky argued when he filed for dismissal on January 8 that Tavel’s lawsuit fails to State a cognizable claim under the Illinois Gender Violence Act.
Riddle filed to dismiss the lawsuit in on December 8, 2020, but this attempt was denied. As a result of this denial, Tavel’s lawsuit against him will continue.
