WWE Championship Match Announced For Money In The Bank

The Rivalry

In January 2016, Styles and Nakamura faced each other in an incredible match at NJPW‘s Wrestle Kingdom 10 pay-per-view in Japan. This would turn out to be the pair’s last bout in the company as they had both signed contracts with WWE.

Fast forward to this year’s WrestleMania where the two would finally face off again in one of the most highly-anticipated matches WWE has booked in years and it was… nothing special. After the bout, however, Nakamura would present the title back to its holder before shocking the world and turning heel by delivering a low blow to his former friend.

At the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia, fans everywhere believed we would get the rematch that would live up to their original encounter. A better but ultimately still underwhelming performance was given to a no-contest finish.

At Backlash the following week, we were given yet another outing from the two with a no-disqualification stipulation. Surely, this was the time to pull the trigger but yet again, due to being put on in the middle of the card despite being the biggest match on the show as well as more poor booking decisions, it was thrown out again via a double count-out.

Now, here we are again, on the road to Money In The Bank 2018 where Nakamura will challenge once more for the WWE Championship. Whether he wins or loses, this feud may have already soured our dream match to the point of no return. Let’s just hope they can pull it out the bag this one last time.

What do you think about this feud? Are you still excited about their next match? Or, like many others, have you grown tired to the point where your enjoyment may have a cap no matter the quality? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter here.
