Top WWE Star Admits They ‘Deserved’ To Be Fired WWE

Drew McIntyre has looked back on his time as The Chosen One and why it came to an end in 2014 with his firing from WWE.

McIntyre signed with WWE in 2007 and would remain with the company, becoming Intercontinental Champion and The Chosen One before finding himself in 3MB (with Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater) until his release in 2014.

Speaking of the end of his first run in WWE on The Pat McAfee Show, McIntyre revealed:

“I was fired in 2014 by WWE and I deserved to get fired. I needed to get fired to truly find myself, and 10 years later The Rock’s announcing that Drew McIntyre re-signed with WWE.

“For anyone out there who’s made it and then you get knocked down in your butt, you got to keep fighting.

“You got to keep pushing forward. You got to leave no stone unturned. Put the work in, be accountable to the person in the mirror.

“You can do freaking anything. I’ve done it time and time again and this is the most recent incident of it.”

Following months of online speculation, The Rock revealed that McIntyre had re-signed with WWE on April 27 2024.

McIntyre addressed the possibility of jumping ship by saying that “Drew McIntyre was never going to go away from WWE.”

Following the events of WrestleMania 40 that saw McIntyre win and then lose the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, he has revealed that he has fractured his elbow.
