A current WWE NXT name is set to be called up to the SmackDown brand after reports of a recent change on the brand.
Last week, it was reported by Fightful Select that WWE SmackDown ring announcer Mike Rome was set to return to the NXT brand, with him reportedly set to serve as the announcer on NXT ‘imminently’.
This led to speculation on the future of Alicia Taylor, who had been serving as the announcer on the brand, with rumours of her potentially making her way to the main roster.
In an update from Fightful Select (subscription required), Rome is set to be on call for tonight’s (May 7) episode of NXT, officially marking his return to the brand for the first time since 2019.
As for Alicia’s future, she is indeed expected to make the jump to the main roster, with the talk backstage at tonight’s NXT show being that she would be working on the SmackDown brand moving forward.
Tonight’s NXT show is set to see an NXT Women’s Championship match between Roxanne Perez and Chelsea Green.
