More details have emerged on WWE allowing more profanity on programming moving forward, courtesy of a recent report.
As per Ringside News – which has been accurate with WWE backstage reports in recent times and has had several confirmed by the likes of Dave Meltzer and Fightful – NXT and Raw will both ‘definitely’ see an increase in colorful language.
The report noted that SmackDown will not see a significant upping of profanity, as FOX has “standards and practices” which prohibit WWE from going overboard with colorful language.
Some ‘off-color’ jokes, such as Roman Reigns’ ‘missionary position’ comments are allowed on SmackDown.
This comes after reports that Vince McMahon had been involved with talks about making NXT 2.0 an edgier product targeting the 18-34 demographic. the S-bomb has been thrown around on WWE shows recently, notably with Bobby Lashley calling Big E a ‘chicken s**t’ during Extreme Rules.
Following the increase of colorful language, Seth Rollins took to social media to joke that WWE’s edgier direction is ‘very exciting’. Luckily for Rollins, he was drafted to Raw on Monday’s show.
