Last week, we saw Finn Bálor lose his Intercontinental Championship back to Bobby Lashley thanks to a little help from Lio Rush. With this feud sadly continuing, a tag team match has been made for tonight’s episode of Raw.
According to WWE’s official preview, Bálor will be teaming with a mystery partner to take on the ‘Almighty’ and Rush.
Who this mystery tag partner will be is still, you guessed it, a mystery. That won’t stop us wildly speculating though.
Recently, it was former NXT North American Champion Ricochet making the save for the ‘Demon.’ With him making the Raw tag division mean something again, however, it doesn’t seem likely a repeat will be happening. There is another NXT star who could appear though and one who is currently without a tag team partner.
Johnny Gargano, now a babyface again in NXT – not that it matters to Vince McMahon – could reappear on tonight’s Raw after several weeks off following his initial debut. With Tommaso Ciampa out recovering from neck surgery, ‘Johnny Wrestling’ is free to take care of himself… and Finn Bálor.
Other contenders range from Braun Strowman to Kurt Angle to Apollo but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens tonight.
This does seem to be keeping Bálor in the IC title picture for now despite reports and teases of big plans for the former Universal Champion at WrestleMania 35. Will we see a progression on this tonight? Probably not, but who knows?
